Georgia is waiting for you-Program presented by Mikheil Janelidze
Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze took an initiative to introduce the programme “Georgia is waiting for you” in all embassies of Georgia. In the frames of the programme, Georgian citizens abroad and representatives of the diaspora will be provided with appropriate assistance and will receive the detailed information on the existing opportunities in Georgia, including, the country’s economy, public and private sector, investment environment, etc. The initiative will be implemented in all Georgian embassies abroad and will ensure the involvement of the diaspora in different projects and their reintegration. Delivering a speech at the Conference dedicated to the diaspora issues - “Georgian Diaspora – Present days and Challenges” – the Georgian Foreign Minister underlined the active involvement of the Georgian diplomatic missions in communication with the diaspora. According to the Minister, the Embassies and Consulates will set up the special hotlines for the diaspora representatives.
“We are well aware of the difficulties encountered by you in the host countries. A hotline for Georgian citizens and representatives of the diaspora will be set up in all embassies and consulates, through which the citizens will be able to inform the Foreign Ministry on all their problems,” Mikheil Janelidze said.

Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze considers protection of interests of Georgian citizens living abroad to be a key concern of the Foreign Ministry.Delivering a speech at the Conference dedicated to the diaspora issues - “Georgian Diaspora – Present days and Challenges” – the Georgian Foreign Minister underlined that this significant mission is carried out by 64 Embassies and 9 Consulates-General of Georgia, which provide the Georgian citizens with the high quality services.
Mikheil Janelidze noted that the Foreign Ministry plans to elaborate the latest technologies and new mechanisms, promoting the further improvement of the service. “The Georgian diplomatic missions abroad are in close contact with the Georgian diaspora. As a rule, our diplomats actively hold meetings with the diaspora representatives. The meetings will continue in the future as well in order to understand more fully the challenges faced and to know your vision in terms of challenges and prospects faced by our country, “ – the Foreign Minister said. According to Mikheil Janelidze, proceeding from the Ministry’s resources and experience, the Ministry is the right organisation that will be able to maintain active relations with the Georgian citizens abroad and the diaspora representatives and to meet the challenges.
Mikheil Janelidze has congratulated Turkmenistan on the Day of Independence
The reception held on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Day of Independence of Turkmenistan was also attended by representatives of the Georgian Foreign Ministry and heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Georgia.

Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze attended the event organized by the U.S. Embassy to Georgia. Mikheil Janelidze, together with other guests attending the meeting, watched the early results of the U.S. presidential elections announced.
According to the Georgian Foreign Minister, Georgia supports the American people’s choice and enjoys the very strong support of both parties.
“The United States is Georgia’s strategic partner and 2017 marks the 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Over the past 25 years, our relations were based on mutual respect for each other’s interests”
According to the U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Yan Kelly highlighted the strategic partnership between Georgia and the U.S. according to Yan Kelly, strong partnership with Georgia is what will never be subject to change.
The event organized by the U.S. Embassy to Georgia was attended by representatives of the Georgian Government and the diplomatic corps accredited to Georgia.
Georgia and Italy have signed the Memorandum of Agreement and the Executive Programme for the Agreement
In the frames of an official visit of Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation of the Italian Republic Paolo Gentiloni to Georgia, the Memorandum in the sphere of education and science and the Agreement on the scientific-cultural co-operation were signed with a view to enhancing relations between Georgia and Italy.
The signing ceremony was held following the working meeting between the Georgian Prime Minister and the Italian Foreign Minister. Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Paolo Gentiloni addressed the attending audience.
Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze and Paolo Gentiloni signed the Executive Programme for the Agreement between Georgia and the Republic of Italy. While the Memorandum of Agreement from the Georgian side was signed by Minister of Education and Science Alexandre Jejelava and from the Italian side – by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation.
Prior to the signing ceremony, Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Paolo Gentiloni held a working lunch, which was also attended by Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze, Minister of Education and Science Alexandre Jejelava, Minister of Culture and Monument Protection Mikheil Giorgadze and representatives of the Georgian and Italian diplomatic corps. Before the working lunch, the Georgian wine tasting event was held in Vinotel.
At the meeting with the Prime Minister, discussions focused on various issues of bilateral relations between Georgia and Italy, on the geostrategic importance of Georgia and on the regional and global processes. Talking points also included the security environment and the current developments in Georgia’s occupied territories.
Discussions also focused on the need to enhance economic relations between the two countries and on the prospects for future deepening bilateral relations in the spheres of culture, education and science.
Paolo Gentiloni completed his official visit to Georgia. The Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation was in Georgia on 6-7 November.
The Georgian Foreign Minister gave an assessment to this visit. According to Mikheil Janelidze, the important issues of bilateral co-operation were discussed in the frames of this visit that will further promote the development of relations between Georgia and Italy.
Mikheil Janelidze:This is a politic implemented by Russia in occupied territories of Georgia
“This is one more sign of the politics which is implemented by Russia in occupied territories of Georgia,”-this statement was made by the Foreign Minister of Georgia. According Mikheil Janelidze, the ratified agreement by Russian State Duma, according to which Russian and occupied Abkhazian united army group will be created, is the action which doesn’t me safety in the region.
According to the so-called agreement, the main aim of this group will be adequate response on aggression. Russian military base stationed in Abkhazia, two Abkhazian motorized battalions, aviation and artillery groups and Special Forces will be in this united group. It will be leaded by Russian occupation base
Support from EU Parliament shows that this process will end soon-Mikheil Janelidze
There are all the indicators the visa liberalization process of Georgia to end soon –this statement was made by the Foreign Affairs Minister of Georgia. As Mikheil Janelidze said, they have the information that the process ongoing actively.
“European Parliament and European Council are discussing this issue. The support from EU Parliament shows that this process will end soon. There are all the indicators Georgia to receive visa free regime in European Union,”-he said.
European Parliament calls for European Council to begin the negotiations on Georgia’s issue.
We welcome NATO’s increased presence and activities in the Eastern Europe-Mikheil Janelidze
Comment of the Georgian Foreign Minister, Mikheil Janelidze on the results ofthe meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of NATO Defence Ministers. We welcome the readiness of NATO to actively work towards implementation of the Warsaw Summit decisions. Yesterday, the NATO Defence Ministers, met for the first time since the Summit to discuss the issues and measures related to the implementation of the Warsaw decisions.
At the Warsaw Summit, the Alliance made a decision to enhance its military presence in the eastern part of the Alliance and in the Black Sea region, as well as to project stability beyond its borders and assist the partner and aspirant countries, including Georgia, in strengthening their defensive capabilities and resilience.
We welcome NATO’s increased presence and activities in the Eastern Europe and particularly in the Black Sea region. Georgia as an aspirant country supports the Allied efforts to strengthen shared Euro-Atlantic security.
Security of the Black Sea region is the integral part of the Euro-Atlantic Security. It is important that the Alliance has started to take specific steps to bolster security in the Black Sea region. It should be emphasized that Georgia, in its respective formats, participates in the NATO discussions regarding the Black Sea security.
We welcome that NATO will not only increase its presence and activities in the Black Sea region, but will also support the efforts of the littoral countries aimed at ensuring security and stability in the region. In this context, the Alliance will strengthen cooperation with Georgia in accordance to the Warsaw Summit decisions.
Georgia is committed to continue its contribution to the security of the Euro-Atlantic area, and of the Black Sea region as its integral part.

Mikheil Janelidze has attended the ceremony of opening the 112 Emergency Response Centre
Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze attended the ceremony of opening the 112 Emergency Response Centre in Rustavi. The Tbilisi and Rustavi Emergency Response Centres will work simultaneously during 24 hours throughout all regions of Georgia.
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Mgebrishvili addressed the attending audience. The Prime Minister underlined that the opening of a new centre would promote the implementation of the important high technological projects.
“I’m sure that the simultaneous operation of these two centres will increase 112’s efficiency and guarantee the security of our citizens,” Prime Minister Kvirikashvili said at the opening ceremony.
Members of the Georgian Government, international organisations, private and non-governmental sectors also attended the ceremony.
