MIA SEIZED ILLEGAL FIREARMS
The officers of the District Inspectors division of Tbilisi Police Department as a result of operative-searching activities detained D.Ch. (DoB 1989) for illegal purchase and keeping of firearms and ammunition.
During the search of the vehicle of the detainee, law enforcers seized Makarov pistol and 7 bullets. Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase and keeping of firearms and ammunition, article 236, II and III parts of the Criminal Code.
ILLEGAL FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION SEIZED BY MIA IN LAGODEKHI
The officers of Kakheti police department as a result of operative and investigative activities detained G.K. (DoB 1973) in Tamariani village for illegal purchase and keeping of firearms and ammunition
During the searching activities held in detainee’s house law enforcers seized 660 bullets and unregistered hunting rifle. The mentioned firearm and ammunition is suitable for shooting according to the results of the expertise. Detainee has already pleaded guilty. Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase and keeping of firearms and ammunition, article 236, Ii part of the Criminal Code.
LAW ENFORCERS DETECTED LARGE AMOUNT OF AMMUNITION AND FIREARMS
Ministry of Internal Affairs along with State Security Service and Main Prosecutor’s office, as a result of investigative activities held on the bases of operative information, detected ammunition and firearms in large amount on the territory of Georgia.
In particular, vast amount of ammunition, firearms, explosive materials and devices were seized in various parts of the country. Investigation established that the mentioned ammunition was hidden in special caches in 2009-2011 years.
Various types of ammunition were buried in the soil on the territory located nearby Norio and in the forest which is close to stone quarrying in Gori. According to pro-technical, chemical and ballistic test results, bullets fount in the cache are aimed for "РПК" machine gun and other weapons.
The following ammunition was also found in the underground caches: three „ОШ“ type anti-personnel mine, one fuse, explosive device of „ВУЗ-4“ type, three plastic substance containing hexogen, 42 electric detonators, 1 „РПГ-26“ type anti-tank grenade launcher, 5 anti-tank mines of „ПТМ-3“ type, 12 detonators of „МД“ type, 4 capsule-detonators, 1 anti-tank mine of „ТМ-62“ type and many more.
The following ammunition was found in Tbilisi, particularly in the forest located near to domestic waste polygon:
9mm factory-made automatic pistol of “Stechkin” construction which is suitable for shooting, handmade silencer, 40 factory-made 7,6mm military cartridges aimed for automatic weapon with “Kalashnikov” construction, 10 factory-made 9mm ,,СП-6“ special cartridges aimed for the firearm with the same caliber, 1 factory made anti-tank grenade launcher of „M-80“ type and 1 factory made anti-tank grenade launcher of „РПГ-22“ type and etc
Law enforcers seized the following ammunition from the underground cache, located in forest near to Saguramo: AKC-74 automatic weapon, 1 AK-74automatic weapon, 1 Buttstock,2 handle and 1 compensator.
According to Information provided by Analytical Center of the Ministry, "АКС-74" automatic weapon and pistol of “Stechkin” construction were enlisted in special database for the weapons, as “lost”.
The following ammunition was seized in special underground cache, located in the forest near to Mukhatgverdi cemetery: 1297 bullets aimed for machine gun, carabins and other weapons, 38 magazines and many more.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase and keeping of firearms, ammunition and explosive materials and devices, article 236, II part envisaged by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
MIA SEIZED ILLEGAL FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION
The officers of the Division Combating Trafficking and Illegal Migration of the Main Division Combating Organized Crime of the Central Criminal Police Department of the MIA as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities detained Zurab A. (D.o.B.: 1971) in Khudadov Str., Tbilisi for illegal purchase and keeping of firearms and ammunition.
During the search of a detainee`s house the law enforcers seized “Smith Wesson” type unregistered pistol, “Marakov” system unregistered pistol, 2 cartridges and 38 bullets.
The detainee has already pleaded guilty. The investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase and keeping of firearms and ammunition (Article 236, parts II of the Criminal Code of Georgia).
