Georgia: Young European Ambassadors visit EU4Youth projects in Gori
On 28 March, a group of Young European Ambassadors (YEAs), together with representatives of the European Commission (DG NEAR) and the EU Delegation to Georgia, visited the EU-funded ‘EU4Youth: Social Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development (SEED) Programme for Green Growth in Borderline Communities.
The project, which recently completed its activities, presented its results to the visitors. Young European Ambassadors met with some 40 project beneficiaries, introduced them to the YEAs’ initiative and shared information on how to join the network.
“We draw plans of the future cooperation and expanding our networking in Gori municipality”, said Giorgi Kakulia, Networks Coordinator at EU NEIGHBOURS east programme.
The Innovation Knowledge Hub in Gori, created as part of the EU4Youth project and hosted by the ‘Biliki’ non-governmental organisation, also hosted the delegation.
YEAs also visited the ‘Leader’ sewing atelier, funded under the EU4Youth project. The workshop encourages women from vulnerable groups, including IDPs, and provides them with education to enhance their employment opportunities.

Lela Chikovani Met with Ambassadors of Baltic States
First Deputy Defense Minister hosted Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassadors of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Lela Chikovani thanked Edite Medne, Andrius Kalindra and Riina Kaljurand for firm support to Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspiration and territorial integrity. Lela Chikovani introduced the guests all implemented and ongoing reforms in defense structure and briefed on upcoming steps in order to improve and strengthen Georgia’s defense capabilities according to the 2020-2030 long-term action plan.

Annual gathering of the heads of diplomatic missions of Georgia abroad - Ambassadors' Conference 2022 will open on 26 December
The annual meeting of the heads of diplomatic missions of Georgia abroad - "Ambassadors' Conference 2022" will be conducted from 26 to 28 December 2022.
The participants of the Conference will summarize the foreign policy activities and achievements in 2022 and discuss the 2023 action plan.
Discussions will cover all important issues of the country's foreign policy: actions aimed at restoring Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration process and the efforts made on this path, the security environment in the region, deepening of cooperation with various countries, and issues of multilateral diplomacy.Ambassadors’ Conference is held every year and the heads of diplomatic missions of Georgia abroad and structural units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs participate in it.
After the end of the pandemic, the ambassadorial meeting is being held in a physical format for the first time this year.

EU4Youth cancels grant call to adapt to impact of war in Ukraine
In response to the ongoing war in Ukraine, the EU4Youth programme has announced that it has decided to terminate its call for proposals “EU4Youth phase III Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship: Fostering Youth Employment and Societal Change through Social Entrepreneurship”, which was published on 26 January 2022 and extended on 3 March.
“Following the military aggression initiated by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the war in the country and the flood of refugees have comprehensively changed the demographic situation, social environment and labour market in Ukraine and other Eastern Partnership countries,” the programme said, adding that the need to address the immediate war-related needs and to build capacities for crisis response, including re-qualification, integration to labour markets, and development of entrepreneurship skills, had significantly impacted the context of EU4Youth Phase III.
In order to address these challenges, the priorities of the grant, and the requirements for applicants and procedures will be revised accordingly.
Depending on the situation, further information about the status of the call for proposals “EU4Youth phase III Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship: Fostering Youth Employment and Societal Change through Social Entrepreneurship” is planned to be announced until the end of April.

Vakhtang Gomelauri held a meeting with the Head of the EU Delegation to Georgia, and EU Member States
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri held a meeting with the Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Georgia, Carl Hartzell, Ambassadors of the EU Member States (EU MSs), as well as the representatives of the EU MSs embassies.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassadors of Austria, Federal Republic of Germany, France, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Kingdom of Sweden and Slovenia. Furthermore, the representatives of the Embassies of Kingdom of Belgium, Bulgaria, Kingdom of Spain, Greece, Hungary and Kingdom of Netherlands participated in the meeting.
During the meeting, parties discussed the upcoming local self-government elections of October 2 and the importance of conducting the election process in a safe and free environment.
Vakhtang Gomelauri stated that the objective of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is to protect the public order and ensure the conduct of elections in a free, democratic and safe environment throughout the country. Accordingly, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is taking all appropriate measures defined by the law with the purpose of ensuring effective response to and prevention of crimes related to the election process.
Vakhtang Gomelauri provided European partners with the detailed information regarding the investigative and operative measures undertaken by the Ministry within the ongoing investigations concerning the events of July 5-6.At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Internal Affairs expressed appreciation towards the Head of the EU Delegation to Georgia and the representatives of the EU MSs for their active and close cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
