Georgia is launching the production of an automatic rifle of NATO standards GI-4 (5.56) at a Georgian-Israeli enterprise Delta CAA, which was incorporated at the premises of Delta, Manufacturing of the automatic firearms of NATO standards was observed by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia together with Juansher Burchuladze, Minister of Defense of Georgia and Major Gen. Giorgi Matiashvili, Chief of the Georgian Defense Forces today.

The Head of Government of Georgia underlined the significance of the enterprise, thereby noting that every unit of the rifle, including the plastic details, will be manufactured locally at the enterprise.

"It is yet another completed task. It was our promise, which I voiced almost a year ago. We started an intensive work towards it back then and you now see the outcome - joint venture manufacturing automatic rifles. We imported state-of-the-art machinery and equipment from the USA. It is the most advanced technology and every unit of the firearms is produced here. We have now officially launched the enterprise and will be producing GI-4 similar to M4, which is very important. I congratulate Delta LLC and everyone at the Ministry of Defense of Georgia with this milestone achievement. Apart from this, you may well be aware that every unit of the rifle - including the plastic details - will be produced locally at the enterprise. We trained our staff - people who work here. This is a very important achievement and I congratulate everyone with the commissioning of this utterly vital enterprise" noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Automatic rifles of NATO standards - GI-4 (5.56) will be manufactured at the enterprise for the defense forces of Georgia. It will facilitate the supply of modern firearms to the military divisions of the country. This project was initiated in the country during the time when Irakli Garibashvili served as a Minister of Defense. New Georgian-Israeli enterprise is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and equipment manufactured in leading countries of the world. Full technological cycle of production will be performed locally to manufacture GI-4 (5.56) in Georgia. Functionalities of the enterprise will further broaden in future to enable for the production of various firearms and accessories. It will also be possible to modernize various weapons at the enterprise. In addition, it is planned to produce output for export markets in future. Company employs outstanding graduates of higher education institutions, who have already been retrained.

  • Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili meets new Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands

    Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili held an introductory meeting with Meline Arakelian, new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Georgia.

    In the meeting at the Government Administration, the key directions of cooperation between Georgia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands were discussed.
    The discussed topics included the relations between Georgia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands which are characterized by a growing dynamic both on the bilateral level and within the frameworks of international organizations.
    Attention at the meeting was paid to the process of Georgia’s European integration. The Head of Government briefed the Ambassador on Georgia’s progress and the state of affairs in the implementation of the 12 recommendations. He also pointed out that Georgia is expecting the candidate status by the end of this year.
    The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of granting the candidate status to Georgia and the significance of support from the Kingdom of the Netherlands in this process.
    Irakli Garibashvili congratulated Meline Arakelian on the commencement of her diplomatic mission in Georgia and wished her success in her future endeavors.

  • High Representative Josep Borrell travels to Georgia

    The EU High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell will travel to Georgia on 7-8 September. His first official visit to the country in the current capacity will provide the opportunity to discuss progress on Georgia’s European integration path, and exchange views on wider foreign policy and regional matters.

    During the visit, the High Representative will be received by Salome Zourabichvili, President of Georgia. The HR/VP will also meet Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili. Following the meeting with the Prime Minister, a joint press conference will be held.

    He will also hold a meeting with Ilia Darchiashvili, Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs. The HR/VP will also take the opportunity to meet with representatives of all political parties present in the Parliament and hold discussions with civil society representatives.

    The HR/VP will during his visit mark 15 years of EUMM presence in Georgia, reflecting the EU’s commitment to Georgia’s security and peaceful conflict resolution. He will participate in mission activities along the Administrative Boundary Line, organised by the European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM).

    Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili held a face-to-face meeting with Alihan Smaiylov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.

    The parties overviewed the friendly relations and partnership between Georgia and Kazakhstan and discussed prospects of future cooperation. Attention was paid to both bilateral and multilateral formats of cooperation. It was noted that Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili’s visit to Kazakhstan last year advanced the cooperation between the two countries to a brand-new level of cooperation.
    Special emphasis was placed on the positive dynamic in the trade and economic relations between the countries. Kazakh investments and the country’s favorable business environment were underlined. The conversation touched on cooperation in such areas as education, science, sports and culture, IT, and transport. Attention was paid to the importance of developing the Middle Corridor.
    The conversation also revolved around the positive dynamic of recent high-level visits. Focus was made on the fact that this is the first visit by a Kazakh Prime Minister to Georgia in many years.
    The Prime Minister of Georgia thanked the Kazakh side for strongly supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Georgian Government’s commitment to peaceful conflict resolution was emphasized. The conversation also touched on the importance of the Geneva International Discussions.
