Prime Minister of Georgia held a meeting with the Minister of Transport and Communications of Armenia Gagik Beglaryan. During the conversation the parties touched upon shipping of cargo through transit corridor as well as highways - their development in accordance with the international standards is a state priority. E-60 transit corridor, as well as Mtskheta-Stepantsminda_Larsi and Tbilisi-Bakurtsikhe-Lagodekhi directions were discussed in this context.
Sides underlined that Rustavi-Sadakhlo and Tbilisi-Guguti routes are optimal in view of shipping cargo through Georgia. Perspectives of development of route covering Kashuri-Akhaltsikhe-Ninotsminda and the border of Armenia were also discussed.
The first Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Nodar Javakhishvili and the head of the Road Department Giorgi Seturidze attended the meeting.

    Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia accompanied by Members of Government, attended a funeral service of the military and civilian citizens of Georgia deemed missing after the armed conflict of 1990's that have been relocated from the occupied territory of Abkhazia today.

    The Prime Minister of Georgia paid tribute to the memory of the deceased at the Trinity Cathedral and expressed condolences to their family members.

    Out of the 20 identified individuals that were deemed missing, 14 are military and 6 - civilians.

    Within the scope of a mechanism designed to locate the missing individuals after the armed conflict of 1990's and a war of 2008 August, first round of identification and relocation of the corpses occurred in 2013. To this day, corpses of 604 individuals have been located, out of which 265 are identified.

    Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, together with a delegation, has set out on a visit to Belgium.

    Within the scope of the visit, Irakli Garibashvili will hold high-level bilateral meetings at both NATO and the EU.
    Led by the Prime Minister, the Georgian delegation consists of Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Head of the Government Administration Revaz Javelidze.

    Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Erika Olson, United States Deputy Assistant Secretary of State.

    In the meeting at the Government Administration, the strategic partnership between the two countries was discussed. The importance of strengthening cooperation in different areas was emphasized.
    Irakli Garibashvili and Erika Olson also discussed the security environment in the region and the world. In this context, the importance of the Prime Minister’s South Caucasus peaceful neighborhood initiative was underlined.
    The conversation also touched on Georgia’s tangible progress toward European integration.
    The meeting was attended by US Deputy Chief of Mission in Georgia Rian Harris, Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, and Head of the Government Administration Revaz Javelidze.

  • Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili hosts dinner in honor of EU delegation members

    Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili hosted a formal dinner in honor of the EU delegation members currently visiting Georgia.

    The official dinner honoring the diplomats was held at Mtatsminda. The Head of Government and the European diplomats discussed Georgia’s European integration in an informal setting.

    A high-level regional ambassadorial organized by the EU Delegation is about to be held in Tbilisi. Senior officials for the EU’s External Action Service and the European Commission—including the Heads of the EU Delegations to the countries of the Eastern Partnership and Central Asia, also to Turkey and Austria—will participate in the regional ambassadorial.

    The high-level regional ambassadorial of the EU is held periodically and represents an important forum for discussing the EU’s policy toward concrete countries.

    As it was noted at the official dinner, holding the ambassadorial in Georgia demonstrates Georgia’s importance in the region for the EU, including as a strong ally in cementing the cooperation among European and Central Asian countries.
