The U.S. Government is proud to announce an additional $600,000 in emergency health assistance to support Georgia's response to COVID-19Monday, 20 April 2020 13:12
The U.S. Government is proud to announce an additional $600,000 in emergency health assistance to support Georgia's response to COVID-19. With this new assistance, the U.S. Government, through USAID, has committed $1.7 million in emergency health assistance to support Georgia’s efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to help the individuals and communities who are most at risk.
The $1.7 million in emergency health assistance from USAID will help control and prevent infection and identify cases of the virus. It will include technical assistance to improve Georgia’s response and preparedness for controlling the outbreak, and for communicating information about the emergency.
The new assistance is part of a whole-of-government approach by the U.S. Government. It comes in addition to other health sector assistance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), USAID support for Georgia's economic recovery and effective provision of public services, and the nearly $140 million the U.S. has invested over the past 20 years in helping Georgia build a capable, resilient, and professional national healthcare system.
We are proud to partner with the Government of Georgia, local health professionals and civil society organizations, and international organizations to help people stay healthy and stay safe.
SES GS to provide nearly 4 Gbps of managed services for 13 sites globally by year-end
Luxembourg, 9 October 2017 – SES announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, SES Government Solutions (SES GS), has won several key contracts to provide critically important managed network services leveraging SES’s unique high throughput, low latency Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) O3b satellite network capabilities. By the end of 2017, SES GS will be delivering nearly 4 Gigabits per second of managed O3b services supporting 13 sites globally to customers ranging from the Department of Defense (DoD) to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
The U.S. Government (USG) has already deployed and integrated MEO-enabled solutions to multiple locations worldwide. These locations utilize the distinctive and unique performance parameters offered by the O3b-enabled solution.
USG customers have leveraged SES’s MEO capabilities to satisfy requirements that vary from niche services, such as large file transfer or backhaul of “big data”, to providing backbone services to support an entire enterprise. The low latency features of SES’s MEO-enabled network are also important as they enable the USG to take advantage of cloud-based applications.
Demand for MEO services for defense and security applications is on the rise, with a recent Department of Defense Request for Information (RFI) further demonstrating the USG need for expanded low latency capabilities. SES's innovative approach to provide resilient commercial satellite capacity has the potential to dramatically improve the ability of the USG to satisfy challenging communications and data-centric applications.
“2017 has been an exceptional year for SES GS, supporting U.S. Government customers with ground-breaking satellite communication services,” said Pete Hoene, President and CEO of SES Government Solutions. “As we look at the emerging U.S. Government requirements for a more resilient National Security architecture, the combination of both SES’s MEO and GEO solutions are clear differentiators. Our USG customers are looking for secure and scalable global connectivity, which our MEO and GEO fleet provides. We are proud of our position as a trusted industry partner and look forward to contributing to future efforts as the SES MEO fleet continues to expand, with additional O3b satellites scheduled for launch in 2018 and 2019, followed by the O3b mPOWER system a few years later.”
We have made great progress in building strong and effective state institutions,-Giorgi Kvirikashvili
Giorgi Kvirikashvili the Prime Minister of Georgia delivered a speech at UN General Assembly today. “We have made great progress in building strong and effective state institutions, ensuring a free civil society, free media, free markets, social cohesion and rule of law,”- he said.
According to Prime Minister, he is proud to be ranked the 5th freest economy in the world, ensuring openness and integration into the global market and equal opportunities for all people interested in doing business in Georgia.
As Giorgi Kvirikashvili said, Georgia is an associated country of the EU, harmonizing its policies, institutions, sectors and market rules with those of the European Union. He also said that Georgia is an aspirant country to NATO, having the deepest and most comprehensive partnership with the Alliance of any nation and highlighted that the US Government, the European Union, and NATO all took actions to emphasize that Georgia's future lies within the European and Euro-Atlantic community.
Managed service solution delivers critical capability to boots on the ground
LUXEMBOURG, 29 August 2016 -- SES S.A. (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) announced today that SES Government Solutions (SES GS), a wholly owned subsidiary of SES, was recently awarded a contract to provide an O3b Networks high throughput, low latency satellite communications solution for a US Department of Defense end-user. The O3b-enabled solution includes a satellite beam operating at less than 200 milliseconds per roundtrip, and will consist of a full duplex, symmetric 155 Mbps link, gateway access, a transportable 2.4m AvL terminal, terrestrial backhaul, installation services and 24/7/365 operations and maintenance activities. The contract also enables the US Government to order additional O3b services to meet surge requirements.
Operational benefits of the solution include the capability to transfer large files from remote locations in just minutes instead of hours. Cloud-based applications and information can be used nearly anywhere in the service area. End-users will be able to view simultaneous high definition (HD) videos providing situational awareness to commanders. This kind of real-time information access may enable better-informed, life-saving decisions in the field.
“These are exciting times for the US Government as well as SES GS,” said Pete Hoene, President and CEO of SES GS. “With SES’s recent acquisition of O3b, SES GS is uniquely positioned to offer scalable, game-changing Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) high throughput, low latency and global Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO) communications products and solutions. This is a clear differentiator for SES GS and our US Government customers.”
This is SES GS’s second US Government customer to use O3b Networks’ services this year. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) was the first US Government agency to sign an agreement with SES GS, that one being for an O3b high throughput solution at the Pago Pago National Weather Service Office in American Samoa. This service has been delivering critical information since May of 2016.

Message of Condolences from Prime Minister following the Terror Attack in Orlando:
I am deeply saddened by the outrageous terror attack that claimed lives of innocent people in Orlando, the USA.
I am deeply grieved that in the 21st century the country of freedom and dream was targeted with such appalling act of violence.
This tragedy is a very clear signal for the whole civilized world - it indicates that we are facing challenge of an unparalleled scale and this increases a hundredfold the responsibility of the global community.

The U.S. Government commits $69.3 million to Georgia’s democratic and economic development. On December 22, the USAID Caucasus Director Douglass Ball signed two development assistance agreements with Georgia’s Minister of Finance Nodar Khaduri. The agreements will support the following two projects over the next five years: Democratic Control, Balance and Accountable Government; and Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth.
This year, for the first time in Georgia, San Diego State University welcomed its first class. SDSU was opened through the U.S. Government funding. From now on Georgian students can receive an American bachelor’s degree in science and math fields without leaving Georgia.
Yet another example of US-Georgia’s vibrant partnership:
Batumi Boat Basin has officially opened. The new basin, constructed with $14 million in funding by the US government, provides docking space for up to 15 vessels and will make the base of the Batumi Georgian Coast Guard an important operational center.
