On September 22, 2022, a telephone conversation took place between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The head of the friendly country cordially congratulated the head of Turkmenistan on his birthday, wishing him good health, longevity and success in his multifaceted activities in the highest state position, aimed at the dynamic socio-economic development of the Fatherland, ensuring a prosperous life for the people.
Expressing sincere gratitude for the kind words and wishes, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that he remembers with great warmth the meeting on the sidelines of the Samarkand Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, successfully held by fraternal Uzbekistan at a high international level. Such meetings provide an opportunity to discuss topical issues of interaction and exchange views on its promising areas.
As noted, Turkmenistan highly appreciates the development of relations with the Republic of Uzbekistan and attaches great importance to comprehensive relations with a close neighbor and reliable partner. It was stated that in recent years, cooperation between the two states has reached a qualitatively new level.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that the interstate dialogue between our countries is constructive and open, and the confidential nature of the negotiations contributes to uniting efforts to solve urgent problems.
It was noted that Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan are successfully cooperating both in bilateral and multilateral formats, primarily within the framework of the UN and the CIS.
Touching upon the topic of trade and economic partnership, the leaders of the two countries noted with satisfaction the progressive dynamics of its development in a wide range of areas - agriculture, power industry, oil and gas complex, chemical industry, etc. At the same time, the importance of recently intensifying business contacts between business circles was noted.
During the conversation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also emphasized the great personal contribution of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the development of good neighborly relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Thanking once again for the warm congratulations and good wishes on the occasion of his birthday, the head of Turkmenistan wished the Uzbek leader good health and further success in his responsible state activities, and peace, well-being and prosperity to the friendly Uzbek people.
On September 19, 2022, the delegation of Turkmenistan took part in high-level event “2022 SDG Moment”. The event was organized to give impetus to implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The UN leadership, world leaders, Goodwill Ambassadors, as well as the representatives of state and private sectors, academic circles and civil society attended the event.
Opening the event, the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres noted, that at present he world faces various conflicts and climate catastrophe, mistrust and division, poverty, inequality and discrimination, unemployment and massive displacement, rising food and energy prices, consequences of the global pandemic and lack of funds to finance recovery measures in developing countries.
To overcome multiple crises, according to the UN, it is necessary to ensure the transition to renewable energy sources, reform food systems and increase digital connectivity, as well as invest in human capital.
The President of the 77TH General Assembly Csaba Körösi, echoed Mr. Antonio Guterres’s words, and said that it was timely and more necessary than ever to “re-dedicate ourselves to the SDGs” as the world falls behind.
Speaking at the event Goodwill Ambassadors and other personalities noted that time is running out, as we are nearly halfway to the 2030 deadline to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and invited Member-states and world leaders to take specific actions to tackle climate change and boost sustainable development.

On September 19, 2022, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations A. Atayeva met at her office with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Samuel Žbogar.
During the meeting, there was a constructive exchange of views on the issues of the forthcoming 77th session of the UN GA, priority directions of the two countries in the UN, on climate change, water and elections to the UN structures.
At the beginning of the talks, S.Žbogar told that Slovenia nominated itself to the UN Security Council for the period of 2024-2025 and requested Turkmen side to support its candidature at the elections, which will take place in June 2023.
Ambassador A. Atayeva noted bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Slovenia in the fields of health care, telecommunications and transport.
The Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan informed her interlocutor about the intention of Turkmenistan to present to the attention of the 77th session of the UN GA the draft of the UN Resolution on declaring 2023 the International Year of Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace, and expressed hope that this proposal will be supported by Slovenia.
During a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the SCO summit, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the high level of bilateral political relations between the countries, the Kremlin website reports.
This is also confirmed by mutual visits at the highest level – on June 10, the Turkmen leader paid an official visit to Moscow, and on June 29, the head of the Russian Federation visited Ashgabat to participate in the Caspian Summit.
The President of Turkmenistan also noted the strengthening of inter-parliamentary networks, a great impulse to the development of which was given by the first Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian countries and the Russian Federation, held in Ashgabat.
Russia wants to take trade and economic relations with Turkmenistan to a new level, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Turkmen leader Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the sidelines of the SCO summit, according to the Kremlin website.
The Russian leader emphasized the special role of energy in economic relations with Turkmenistan, noting the successful long-term work of “Gazprom” and “Tatneft” with Turkmen partners.
Putin thanked Berdimuhamedov for creating the conditions necessary for the work of Russian companies in Turkmenistan. In total, 190 enterprises with Russian participation conduct economic activity in the country, the head of the Russian Federation said.
– We aim to diversify our economic ties through other areas of interaction,-the Russian leader said. – I mean agriculture, textile industry. We are ready to increase the supply of non-primary products to the market of Turkmenistan.
It was also reported at the meeting that 60 constituent entities of the Russian Federation are actively cooperating with Turkmenistan. With many of them, agreements were concluded in the trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural spheres.
During the meeting on the sidelines of the SCO summit, the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the positive dynamics of trade and economic cooperation between the countries, according to the website of the Head of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the negotiations, it was noted that the Turkmen-Uzbek trade turnover has increased by 10% since the beginning of the year. The countries are jointly implementing new cooperation projects in the logistics sector, in industry, agriculture and water management.
The Heads of State agreed that the traditionally good-neighborly relations between the countries have reached a qualitatively new level in recent years and have been filled with concrete practical content.

On September 14, 2022, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Regional Director of the United Nations Development Coordination Office (UNDCO) for Europe and Central Asia, Ms. Gwi-Yeop Son.
During the meeting, the parties highly evaluated the cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations in a wide range of areas. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of combining efforts in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the national sustainable development goals in Turkmenistan.
Rashid Meredov also noted that Turkmenistan supports the holding of the Education Transformation Summit in September 2022 in New York during the high-level week of the seventy-seventh session of the UN General Assembly. It was highlighted that Turkmenistan has been conducting the work to improve the national education system and ensure equal access to quality education and plans to start national consultations in the near future in frames of preparation for this Summit.
The diplomats reviewed current and prospective projects and talked about key areas of cooperation. The significance of the initiatives proposed by Turkmenistan under the leadership of the head of state in the field of energy, transport, ecology, health care and others, which were embodied in a number of resolutions adopted by the UN General Assembly, was especially emphasized.
The parties discussed areas of cooperation and exchanged views on developing the potential for interaction with the UN, in particular, on holding an international conference on healthcare.
During the meeting, the Turkmen side proposed to expand cooperation with the UN in the field of social services.
The parties agreed to continue active cooperation towards achieving these goals.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Samarkand on a working visit to participate in the SCO Summit as an honored guest.
At the Samarkand International Airport, the head of state was met by officials of Uzbekistan and members of the government delegation of Turkmenistan.
In addition to participation in the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, it is expected that the President of Turkmenistan will hold a series of bilateral negotiations on the sidelines of the Summit.
During the SCO Summit, it is planned to discuss the development of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation in the space of the Organization.
The SCO is an international organization founded in 2001. India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan participate in it. Observer countries - Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia, partner countries - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, Turkey and Sri Lanka.
DELEGATION OF TURKMENISTAN HELD A SERIES OF FRUITFUL MEETINGS WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF A WORKING VISIT TO THE UAE
From September 12th to 16th, 2022, Turkmen delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Berdiniyaz Myatiyev is on a working visit to the United Arab Emirates.
In the frame of the visit, the delegation of Turkmenistan held a series of bilateral meetings. In particular, on 12-14 of September, the talks were held with the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the UAE Suhail Al-Mazrui, Chief Executive Officer and Manager of the Port of Abu Dhabi Captain Saif Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Chief Executive Officer of Masdar Company Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi and Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates Ahmed Ali Al-Sayegh.
During the talks, the parties highly evaluated the current level of relations between Turkmenistan and the UAE. The firm commitment of the two countries to maintain regular, trustful, and mutually beneficial dialog was confirmed.
Having underlined the need for preparation of relevant documents, the sides discussed the issues of organization of the next meeting of the Joint Committee on Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates, scheduled to be held in 2022 in the city of Abu Dhabi.
The issues of strengthening of trade-economic ties between the two countries were discussed in detail. The interest of both countries in expansion of the spectrum of cooperation between state and private structures and enhancement of investment climate was expressed. The parties exchanged views regarding attraction and development of transport potential of Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates. It was about using the capabilities of the sea, rail and air transport, using port infrastructure to promote bilateral and multilateral trade and economic relations.
At the meeting in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international cooperation of the UAE with the Minister of State Ahmed Ali Al-Sayegh, the sides discussed the issues of the preparation to the forthcoming official visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the United Arab Emirates at the invitation of the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The parties also discussed the package of documents to be signed during the visit.
The working visit of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan B.Myatiyev to the United Arab Emirates continues, during which it was scheduled a number of meetings in the ministries and agencies of the country.
The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the assistant of the Russian leader for International Affairs Yuri Ushakov.
The SCO Summit will be held from September 15 to 16 in the Uzbek city of Samarkand. It is expected that the Turkmen leader will take part in the event as an honorary guest.
The upcoming summit will also be attended by the leaders of the SCO member states - India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as the heads of observer states – Belarus, Iran, and Mongolia.
The leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey will be honored guests at the event, along with the head of Turkmenistan.
