GELIBOLU (GALLIPOLI), TURKEY: The 1915Çanakkale Bridge was officially opened in a ceremony attended by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Friday 18th March 2022.
Taking it’s title as the world’s longest mid-span and highest tower suspension bridge, the 1915Çanakkale Bridge was completed 18-months ahead of schedule.
Tendered by the Turkish Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, General Directorate of Motorways on 2017, financed and constructed by the Turkish-Korean joint venture partners – DL E&C–Limak–SK ecoplant–Yapı Merkezi – the 1915Çanakkale Bridge and Motorway will enable the crossing between Asia and Europe continents in six minutes through the Çanakkale Strait (Dardanelles). It will also provide a new heavy transit alternative to the Istanbul Strait passage, meaning faster and more cost-effective freight transport, as well as strengthened economic, political, tourism and social bonds for the region.
About the 1915Çanakkale Bridge
At a total bridge length of 4,608 metres, a central span of 2,023 metres and a total bridge tower height of 318 metres (334 metres the top point),the 1915Çanakkale Bridge is the longest mid-span and highest tower suspension bridge in the world. The Bridge connects Gelibolu on the European side, with Lapseki on the Asian side. The bridge is named as 1915Çanakkale in honour and remembrance of the Çanakkale Battle during World War I that took place between Turkish and Allied forces.
The Turkish General Directorate of Highways (KGM) has awarded the 1915Çanakkale Bridge and Motorway Project within the framework of a Public Private Partnership model to a Turkish-Korean joint venture. ÇOK A.Ş. (Çanakkale Motorway Bridge Construction Investment Operation Inc.) is the appointed company of the 1915Çanakkale Bridge and Motorway Project. The equal partners of the appointed company are Limak (limak.com.tr) and Yapı Merkezi (ym.com.tr) of Turkey, and DL E&C (dlenc.co.kr) and SK ecoplant (skecoplant.com) of South Korea.

Today, on March 15, a telephone conversation took place between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Having warmly welcomed the head of the friendly state, the Turkmen leader said that according to the results of the Presidential elections held on March 12 announced by the Central Election Commission, Serdar Berdimuhamedov was elected the new President of Turkmenistan.
At the same time, the leader of the nation noted that he intends to continue his active work, but in a new capacity - the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan.
Taking the opportunity, the head of state thanked his Turkish friend and colleague for his great personal contribution to the development of a constructive interstate dialogue and the established fruitful cooperation.
The President of the Republic of Turkey, in turn, congratulated the leader of the nation on the early presidential elections successfully held on a broad alternative basis, which became another clear evidence of the broad democratic transformations taking place in Turkmenistan.
As noted, all significant successes and achievements of the era of power and happiness are associated with the name of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who has been at the helm of the Turkmen state for the past 15 years. Approving the wise decision to hand over the reins of government to younger, energetic leaders, Recep Tayyip Erdogan wished the head of state success in his new field.
Having wished the President of the Republic of Turkey good health, long life and success in all endeavors, the leader of the nation handed the phone to the newly elected President of Turkmenistan.
Warmly congratulating the newly elected head of the Turkmen state on his convincing victory in the elections, the President of the Republic of Turkey wished him great success in his activities in this important and responsible post.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba are meeting in a small resort town in Turkey's southern province of Antalya, local media reported on Thursday.
The meeting comes on the sidelines of an international forum in the presence of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.
It is the first high-level meeting between Moscow and Kiev since Russia launched a "special military operation" in Ukraine on Feb. 24.
The three ministers are scheduled to hold separate press conferences following the talks in Belek, a resort town about 30 km from Antalya's provincial capital.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the meeting is "an important continuation of the negotiation process."
While Ukrainian and Russian delegations have held three rounds of peace talks in Belarus since last week, the negotiations ended without any substantial progress on ending the conflict.

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met Mustafa Şentop, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey today.
Dignitaries discussed the strategic partnership existing between the two countries, which is at the highest level today. It was noted that the 30TH Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations is marked this year and a number of events are planned to celebrate the jubilee.
Meeting was also related to economic cooperation. It was noted that Turkey remains to be the Number One Trade Partner of Georgia. It was highlighted that existing regional projects are clear evidence of an effective strategic cooperation between Georgia and Turkey.
The Prime Minister of Georgia and Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey discussed topics of regional cooperation, along with the Peaceful Neighborhood Policy of the Prime Minister of Georgia that will serve as a significant platform of dialogue and will facilitate the normalization of regional relations.
Readiness was expressed at the meeting towards a further augmentation of the strategic partnership and it was also noted that the positive trend of high-level visits is a welcoming development.
The Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey once again confirmed the solid support of Turkey towards the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met H.E. Fatma Ceren Yazgan, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia today.
Discussion was focused on the strategic partnership between the two countries and positive trend of bilateral relations.
One of the topics discussed by the dignitaries was the opening of the Turkish sales market and import of high-quality medication with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) to Georgia, which will significantly and quickly drop prices on the pharmaceutical products in Georgia.
It was highlighted that current regional projects between Georgia and Turkey serve as a vivid example of effective strategic cooperation, solid development and reliable partnership, which thereby leads to greater economic freedom, security and sustainability. Prime Minister of Georgia noted that effective regional cooperation with neighbouring countries is in fact a road leading to security, stability and sustainable development.
Readiness was expressed towards further deepening cooperation, including towards political and economic directions.
Attention at the meeting was paid to the upcoming session of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council. Future steps to be made towards concluding a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) by and between Georgia and Republic of Turkey were also discussed at the meeting.
It was noted that joint efforts have acquired tremendous importance in addressing the challenges borne by the pandemic and hopes were expressed that close cooperation between Georgia and Turkey will remain high in the agenda in the fight against the novel coronavirus.
Irakli Garibashvili expressed his gratitude to the Turkish side for the solid support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia. The Head of Government of Georgia highlighted the significant contribution of the Madam Ambassador in developing the bilateral relations between the two countries.

The 6th annual meeting of the Foreign Relations Committees of the Georgian, Turkish, and Azerbaijani Parliaments was held as part of the official visit of the Georgian parliamentary delegation to Turkey. This is reported by the administration of the Parliament of Georgia.
At the meeting, Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Head of Delegation, addressed the members of the delegations and discussed the ongoing processes in the region, security problems, and the role of the three countries in the process of resolving existing difficulties.
In this regard, he focused on the situation in Georgia's occupied territories, Russia's destructive actions, the security of the Black Sea, and the significance of Georgia's NATO membership as the sole means to promote regional security and stability.
Trade, energy and infrastructure projects, culture, defense, security, the environment, and people-to-people relations were among the topics discussed at the sitting.
The necessity of inter-legislative collaboration and the possibilities for strengthening parliamentary ties were emphasized.
The parties also addressed the creation of new mechanisms and formats in this context.
The parties reaffirmed their unequivocal support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and pledged to take additional actions to enhance peace, stability, and security in the Black Sea and South Caucasus regions.

С пониманием восприняв предложение турецкого лидера, глава Туркменистана выразил глубокие соболезнования в связи с трагедией и в этот тяжёлый для братского народа момент передал от имени народа, Правительства страны и от себя лично слова искреннего сопереживания и поддержки родным и близким погибших, а также пожелания скорейшего выздоровления пострадавшим.

On 20 April 2021, the third session of the Council on Cooperation in the field of education between Turkmenistan and Turkey was held via videoconferencing.
The delegations were headed by the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan Orazgeldi Gurbanov and the Minister of National Education of the Republic of Turkey Ziya Selcuk. The representatives of the relevant departments of the two countries also took part in the meeting.
During the talks, the positive dynamics of Turkmen-Turkish collaboration in the area of culture and education was highlighted. The parties specifically stated the necessity for further intensification of mutual dialogue on education for which favorable conditions exist.
As known, the efficient cooperation experience is accumulated between the Turkmen and Turkish institutions of higher education. With the aim of overall strengthening of ties among the secondary and higher institutions of specialized education, the parties agreed to continue further active participation in joint meetings and seminars, including the exchange of best practices on the development of modern curricula and teaching methods.
The Government of the Republic of Turkey handed over various kinds of special equipment to the Defense Forces of Georgia on purpose to develop material and technical capabilities of Marneuli Airdrome.
The equipment was transferred within the framework of the “Agreement on Cooperation in the Military Finance Sphere” signed between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of Georgia. The official handover ceremony of the new transport and supporting aerodrome means was held at the base of the Joint Aviation Squadron in Marneuli.
Defense Minister of Georgia Juansher Burchuladze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia, H.E Fatma Ceren Yazgan, Deputy Chief of Georgian Defense Forces, Brigadier General Irakli Chichinadze, Commander of Aviation and Air Defense Command, Colonel Sergo Ninua, Defense Attaché of the Republic of Turkey to Georgia and the representatives from the Embassy attended the event.
From the Georgian side - Commander of Aviation and Air Defense Command, Colonel Sergo Ninua and from the Turkish side – Defense Attaché, Colonel Burak Altiner signed the handover and acceptance act of the special equipment within the ceremony.
Georgia and Turkey have been cooperating in the various directions in defense sphere closely and successfully for many years.
