20 years ago this day, brutal terrorist attacks in the United States took thousands of innocent lives, injuring and affecting even more. This merciless event shook the world and changed it forever.
Today, Georgia once again remembers and honors all the victims of this tragedy, their families, friends, and loved ones. We pay tribute to real heroes – the first responders - brave police officers and firefighters who saved so many precious lives, while in some cases sacrificing their own lives and health.
We condemn terrorism in all its forms. Georgia has proved to be a reliable partner in fight against terrorism. We remain committed to continue working together with international community to advance further our joint cause of enhancing security around the world. The most rightful way to honor the victims and survivors of September 11, 2001 is to strive together for a more peaceful world.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia expresses its deep concern over the terrorist blasts that hit Istanbul on 10 December 2016 and left tens of people dead and injured.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia conveys its sincere condolences to the families of terrorism victims, as well as to the Government of the Republic of Turkey and wishes speedy recovery to those who have suffered injuries.
Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili thanked the State Security Service and its head Vakhtang Gomelauri once again for prevention of the terrorist attack.
During Government meeting the head of the Government indicated that Vakhtang Gomelauri and his team undertook sizeable work and prevented a serious threat.
"We consider that serious work will be much needed in the future as well, since the region faces many challenges. I would like to thank the State Security Service. It was particularly important in a view of ensuring sound sleep of our citizens," - Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated.
I offer my deepest condolences on the terrorist attack in the center of Istanbul that claimed lives of passers-by and police officers. I would like to convey my heartfelt sympathies to the families and friends of the victims as well as to Turkish people and the Government. It is truly heartbreaking that the lives of innocent people are used as a tool of warfare and influence in the modern world. Global community, each of us has to demonstrate strong commitment to stop such kind of violence.
The President of PACE Anne Brasseur expressed deep sorrow due to Paris attacks:
"I am deeply shocked and utterly appalled by the barbaric terrorist attacks perpetrated last night in Paris. On behalf of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, I extend my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims as well as to the people of France," said Anne Brasseur, President of the Assembly.
"Like the President of the Republic François Hollande, I am convinced that our values remain our best defence against this cruelty and barbarism. It is our duty to overcome all political and ideological divisions in order that we stand together against the scourge of terrorism."
