1. The DPRK conducted its fifth nuclear test on September 9, 2016, in Punggye-ri, North Hamgyong Province.
2. Despite the clear warnings sent again by the international community at the G20 Summit and East Asia Summit, the DPRK conducted another nuclear test since 2016 in flagrant violation of relevant UN Security Council resolutions. The ROK government strongly condemns such a grave provocation, which must not be condoned.
3. The DPRK regime is continuing its dangerous provocations, focusing solely on the advancement of its nuclear and missile capabilities while completely ignoring the poor human rights situation of its people and their livelihood. However, the DPRK regime must clearly realize that it has nothing to gain from such behavior. The more reckless provocations the DPRK conducts, the stronger international sanctions and more severe diplomatic isolation it will face, leading to the collapse of its economy and eventually self-destruction.
4. The ROK government again strongly calls on the DPRK to immediately abandon its nuclear weapons and missile programs in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner. The ROK government will continue to cooperate with the international community and make all the necessary efforts to seek much tougher sanctions at the UN Security Council and bilateral levels.
5. Furthermore, the ROK government will maintain a high readiness posture against any further provocation by the DPRK which threatens the safety of the ROK and the lives of its people and will demonstrate an unwavering response.

“I condemn the attempted coup in Turkey and deplore the loss of life in the events of the weekend. It is now very important to identify facts and bring to justice those responsible,” said Pedro Agramunt, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), in a statement today.
“At the same time, to protect democratic institutions, it is equally important that the relevant legal procedures are carried out in accordance with the rule of law and human rights standards that Turkey has subscribed to as a member of the Council of Europe, in particular the European Convention on Human Rights and the case-law of the Strasbourg Court. In this context, the swift dismissal and arrest of thousands of judges, prosecutors, police officers and senior civil servants raises questions,” said the President.
“I am also worried about the announced discussion on the re-establishment of the death penalty. This would go against the country’s international commitments – as a member state of the Council of Europe, Turkey has signed and ratified Protocol No. 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights, and its Protocol No. 13 banning the death penalty in all circumstances,” said Mr Agramunt.
“The Council of Europe stands ready to support the Turkish authorities, on the basis of the principles of democracy, human rights and the rule of law,” he concluded.
Statement by Council of Europe Secretary General Jagland on the situation in Turkey:
"Any attempt to overthrow the democratically elected leaders in Turkey is unacceptable in a member state of the Council of Europe, which defends democracy, human rights and the rule of law."

The Ambassador of Georgia to US said that there are pro-Russian forces in the ruling party but they don’t act on decision making process. According to him, if not Treaty of Georgievsk we would have dark black eyebrows and hair like Persians.
Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili thanked the US for supporting Georgia and congratulated American people on the Independence Day. In his conversation with journalists, Prime Minister noted that the US has always been Georgia's most important strategic partner.
"The USA is the strongest supporter of our independence and sovereignty and our achievements in many areas are due to the American support. Important support of the US still continues across various sectors, including security, economic development, building civic society and institutional democracy, non-recognition policy. Altogether these fields lay the foundation of Georgia's statehood and I would like to thank the United States and congratulate on 240th anniversary of its statehood," - Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated.
Prime Minister also commented on expected visit of the US Secretary of State John Kerry and assessed it as a strong gesture of support to the Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
"This visit has been announced beforehand and I cannot elaborate on the final details today. However, working process is ongoing, Visit details will become known and announced. We expect the visit of the US Secretary of State John Kerry with great enthusiasm, since it will be the reaffirmation of the strong support of the US to Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration," - Prime Minister indicated.
Giorgi Kvirikashvili also discussed the internal survey organized by the "Georgian Dream". He noted that party did not intend to publish the results of the survey.
"Generally I consider that speculations with the surveys shall come to an end. Based on the previous experience we can see that oftentimes the results of the survey do not reflect the actual picture. We held internal surveys and we do not intend to publish their results. However, to counter statements that suggested that we were afraid to announce the results, we had to publish them," Giorgi Kvirikashvili indicated. All parties conduct social surveys in a non-stop regime and not only during the electoral process to find what effect their actions and decisions have on public opinion. This is a conventional process that takes place in many countries. We have our vision that is based on many meetings, public meeting, active work performed throughout regions and internal surveys. We are completely sure that we will gain an absolute majority - the exact numbers cannot be estimated, but we are completely sure about our victory. One thing is the most important - the elections shall be democratic, transparent and represent an important progress in view of democratization of Georgia," - Prime Minister stated.

Georgia Department of Veterans Service released a statement:
“As you know, the reorganization process is underway in the Department of Veterans Service of Georgia. The assistance process of veterans is frequently hindered. Despite the efforts of different state agencies, there are continuous attempts to disseminate previously announced video material and threats. One more large-scale case will be added to the current investigations. Society has lost hope for rapid and effective investigation of these hardest crimes.
Our citizens revealed high self-consciousness and readiness to cooperate with investigational authorities. Society declares that it will not allow blackmailing and one’s private life does not concern others.
Today, such consolidated society requires mobilization of resources to address existing challenges and specific action plan, which will ensure:
That weaknesses of investigation are analyzed and existing gaps are eliminated as soon as possible;
Participation of foreign professionals and services, having experience in the similar cases, in the investigational process; Transparency of investigational process;
Minimization of damage caused to the society by infringement of privacy;
That the reforms in order to raise effectiveness of investigational bodies are continued and legislative guarantees to protect right to privacy are strengthened.
There is no time to be lost; I would like to ask Mr. Prime-Minister and Parliament of Georgia to determine coordinating agency or group, which will be responsible for preparing of complex action plan and for its implementation. From my side, I would like to express readiness for active participation in any process, which will stop violation of right to privacy and faulty practice of blackmailing.
