As part of an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited the Bahrain Economic Development Council.

The President got acquainted with the videos describing the work of the Council and its key tasks.

Then, the Respected President got acquainted with the investment projects being implemented in the country on the area indicated on the map of Bahrain, as well as the existing opportunities for cooperation.

Expressing gratitude to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as the leadership of the Council for a meaningful presentation, the head of state noted that Turkmenistan is always open for constructive relations with Bahrain and its business circles.

Further, the Respected President went to the Palace of the King of Bahrain where negotiations took place in a one-on-one format.

During the talks, priority issues of Turkmen-Bahraini cooperation were discussed. In continuation of the meeting, the parties exchanged views on a number of topical issues on the international and regional agenda of mutual interest.

Then, the ceremony of presenting gifts to each other by the heads of state of the two friendly countries took place here.

Then the ceremony of signing bilateral documents took place with the participation of the Respected President and the King of Bahrain. A joint communiqué was also adopted following the visit of the Respected President to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

TELEPHONE CONVERSATION BETWEEN THE PRESIDENTS OF TURKMENISTAN AND TAJIKISTAN

On January 27, 2023, a telephone conversation was held between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

The heads of state exchanged congratulations on the occasion of 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan.

The Presidents noted with satisfaction the active political cooperation between the two countries, which is being successfully strengthened both at the bilateral and multilateral levels, primarily within the framework of authoritative international and regional structures.

Along with this, the sides positively assessed the progressive development of trade and economic cooperation, in connection with which the importance of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Tajik Commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation was noted.

The role of a fruitful dialogue in the cultural, scientific and educational spheres in the rapprochement of the peoples of the two countries was also highlighted.

An exchange of views took place on the most pressing topics of regional policy and the international agenda.

Priority attention is paid to maintaining interstate dialogue and trusting relations at the highest and high levels.

During the conversation, the head of Turkmenistan thanked the head of the friendly state for his great personal contribution to the development of bilateral relations. The President of Tajikistan, in turn, conveyed warm words of greeting and best wishes to the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

On November 30, 2022, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Akbar Mehrabian.

Expressing sincere gratitude for the time spent, the guest conveyed warm greetings from the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi to the head of state, who addressed the wishes of well-being and prosperity to all the Turkmen people.

Welcoming the guest and noting that one of the key vectors of the foreign policy of  Turkmenistan is the development of multifaceted cooperation with neighboring countries, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov conveyed his best wishes to the President and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stating with satisfaction the traditionally friendly, fraternal nature of the interstate dialogue.

During the meeting, the prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation were discussed, where mutual visits of government delegations are a significant factor. As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted, Iran is a major trade and economic partner of Turkmenistan, occupying one of the leading positions in its foreign trade turnover. In this context, confidence was expressed that the meetings and negotiations scheduled during the current visit of the Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ashgabat will contribute to the further development of effective interaction that meets common interests.

In this regard, the need was noted for developing more effective partnership mechanisms in order to optimally realize its huge resource and economic potential. Here, an important role is given to the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, designed to contribute to the intensification of the Turkmen-Iranian cooperation aimed at achieving concrete results.

At the end of the meeting, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Minister of Energy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Akbar Mehrabian expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation, based on strong ties of friendship and good neighborliness, principles of equality, mutual benefit and long-term, will continue to develop successfully for the common good.

The President of Turkmenistan arrived in Samarkand to participate in the SCO summit as an honored guest

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Samarkand on a working visit to participate in the SCO Summit as an honored guest.

At the Samarkand International Airport, the head of state was met by officials of Uzbekistan and members of the government delegation of Turkmenistan.

In addition to participation in the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, it is expected that the President of Turkmenistan will hold a series of bilateral negotiations on the sidelines of the Summit.

During the SCO Summit, it is planned to discuss the development of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation in the space of the Organization.

The SCO is an international organization founded in 2001. India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan participate in it. Observer countries - Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia, partner countries - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, Turkey and Sri Lanka.

Thanking for the kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted with satisfaction the constructive, traditionally friendly and dynamic nature of the Turkmen-Russian relations, as evidenced by regular contacts at the highest level. Conveying greetings and best wishes to the President of Russia, the head of Turkmenistan stressed the importance of the bilateral agreements reached, which are designed to give the interstate dialogue a new effective impetus.

During the meeting, the head of Turkmenistan and the chairman of the board of PJSC Gazprom exchanged views on the prospects for further partnership, taking into account the many years of positive experience and solid potential. In this context, issues related to the purchase of Turkmen gas by the Russian holding company under the current contract and the expansion of cooperation in this area on a long-term basis were discussed.

As noted, Turkmenistan is always open to the proposals of its long-term business partners and is ready to support new promising formats of interaction. It was also emphasized that the Russian holding would continue to unswervingly follow its obligations.

At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the head of the Russian energy company confirmed the desire of Turkmenistan and PJSC Gazprom to continue mutually beneficial cooperation aimed at concrete results, which will become an effective contribution to the further development of interstate relations of a strategic nature.

A BRIEFING ON THE RESULTS OF THE INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT FORUM WAS HELD IN AVAZA

On August 17, 2022, a briefing was held at the Berkarar Hotel of the Avaza National Tourist Zone on the results of the International Ministerial Transport Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries and events dedicated to it. The Ashgabat Process: Financing for Better Connectivity Forum was organized by the Government of Turkmenistan under the auspices of the United Nations.

The briefing organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was attended by members of the Government, the Chairwoman of the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, heads of ministries and departments, as well as representatives of the Mejlis and the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh, public organizations, and the media.

It was emphasized that all meetings of the Conference were broadcast live on the United Nations web television channel in its four official languages - English, French, Spanish and Russian.

At the same time, the importance of new initiatives voiced by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who addressed the forum participants with a video message, was especially noted, in which Turkmenistan's readiness to intensify and expand its participation in the global transport dialogue was confirmed.

Expressing confidence that the decisions and proposals adopted at the current forum will form the basis for the preparation of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, scheduled for 2024, in his video message, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said that together with partners and like-minded people, Turkmenistan will resolutely move towards the achievement of the set goals.

The results of the forum were consolidated in the Final Statement, which highlights the importance of strengthening transport connectivity for the sustainable recovery of landlocked countries from the COVID-19 pandemic, accelerating the implementation of the Vienna Program of Action and achieving the SDGs.

It was noted that relevant work is currently underway to formalize the Final Statement adopted in Avaza as an official document of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, which will open on September 13 this year.

Thus, it was stated that the International Ministerial Transport Conference of Landlocked Developing Countries held with the support of the President of Turkmenistan in the Avaza National Tourist Zone, has become an effective contribution to strengthening and building up constructive regional and global cooperation in the field of sustainable transport in the name of world peace, prosperity and progress

Presidents of Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan met in Cholpon-Ata

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Kyrgyzstan to attend the summit of the heads of states of Central Asia, met with the head of the republic Sadyr Japarov in the city of Cholpon-Ata, the press service of the Kyrgyz leader reports.

Deepening of the relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan, joint projects and transit potential of both countries were among the key topics discussed by and between Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia and Meets Serdar Berdimuhamedow, President of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat today.

The Head of Government of Georgia noted that Georgia noted that close political and economic relations with Turkmenistan are cherished by Georgia. Discussion was focused on the transport projects and their further advancement. It was noted that implementation of strategic projects increases the effectiveness and security of cargo shipments between Asia and Europe through the Caspian and Black Seas, resulting in the extension of trade and economic relations, advancement of regional links and connections. Georgia is investing a lot in the construction of new roads and railway, and increase of capacities at marine ports. Therefore, use of a corridor trespassing Georgia towards the Black Sea will be favorable for Turkmenistan. Discussion was also related to the strategic partnership in the energy sector and readiness was expressed towards deepening the existing cooperation further.
