It is my pleasure to inform you that this year it is the 18th time that we are celebrating July 4th and we are proud that throughout these years we honor the independence day of the devoted friend and rigirous ally of Georgia together with the organizations supporting Georgian-American friednship.

I will not exaggerate to say that July 4th gives joy to not only American people but also those who wish to be friends of freedom. This implies the fact that this day is festive for all those people for whom democracy serves as the system of values.

Besides, I get convinced every time that the Independence Day of the USA is especially precious for Georgians as well. The environment created at the event is full of happy emotion and further draws supporters of Georgian-American friendship together.

This year is the anniversary of 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations between our countries. Throughout these years, American people have numerously proved strong friendship with Georgian people and today, in the most critical conditions for the world continue to give political support of our country.

Allow me to use this opportunity and note that the party organized on behalf of the Georgian people gave us the opportunity to send the message of rigorous friendship to the American people and express gratitude for many kind deeds for the Georgian state throughout three decades.

At the same time, July 4th is one of the best days for letting everyone see both inside and outside of the state what the attitude of the freedom loving Georgian nation is towards American people.

At the end, let me thank all those organizations and people who joined the initiative of celebrating the 246th anniversary of signing the declaration and at the same time support strengthening Georgian-American friendship.

„This year marks the 25th anniversary of Georgia's membership in the UN. I would like to say with pride that over this period, we have managed to transform our country from a UN humanitarian aid recipient into a regional leader that now serves as the Chair of the Open Government Partnership" - with these words the Prime Minister of Georgia addressed the representatives of the diplomatic corps, international and non-governmental organizations attending the UN Day Reception.

Prime Minister congratulated the UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia Niels Scott and spoke about the UN-Georgia fruitful cooperation.

"Our success story is in many ways connected to the fruitful and active involvement of the United Nations in Georgia and a very important cooperation that we have in so many fields. We cooperate with 13 UN agencies in the most important directions, such as democratic governance, human rights, rule of law, economic and social development, healthcare, education, employment and environmental protection. We have gained huge experience and we are very well aware of the importance of cooperation with the UN structures. Today, from this tribune, I would like to reassert that Georgia firmly supports the UN's engagement in the country as well as throughout the region in terms of fortification of the stability and achieving sustainable development. It is our Government's honor to serve as the chair of OGP and contribute to a powerful global movement for openness and deeper democracies that promotes the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal 16: "Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels," - the Prime Minister stated.

The head of the Government also commented on the first plenary session of the Sustainable Development Goal Council that was held today. According to him, respective platform is a clear indication of the close cooperation in terms of implementation of the 2030 Agenda.

"Every country and government has joined this path of global transformation and integration of economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development into the national priorities. Georgia has already taken steps to reinforce the effective governance and ensure the participation of all relevant stakeholders in the decision making process. That's precisely why Georgia remains committed to the UN and its work. I would like to once again thank Niels Scott and his colleagues for their tireless efforts in contributing to Georgia's development. We look forward to many more years of constructive, stronger partnership between Georgia and UN agencies," - the Prime Minister of Georgia noted.

UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia Niels Scott also emphasized the UN-Georgia cooperation and the progress achieved by the country.

"Since Georgia joined the United Nations in 1992 in the midst of internal and external adversity and chaos, it has not only undergone a remarkable transformation, but also become a highly active and much-esteemed member of the UN. Georgia continues to make substantial contribution to UN's works on security, peace, development and human rights. This dynamic of international engagement reflects the strong will of Georgian government and people to support the work of the UN for stronger, more sustainable economic growth, clean environment and water, equal opportunities and gender equality, better education and healthcare and a decent life to all. I would therefore like to thank once more the government and people of Georgia for this valuable partnership and enabling the UN to continue contributing to Georgia's development," - Niels Scott noted.

Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili attended the celebratory reception marking the US Independence Day and addressed attendees.
He congratulated American people on the Independence Day and elaborated on friendly and strategic relations between the nations. According to him the Independence Day is one of the greatest days in the US, when Americans particularly express their pride and affection toward their homeland.
"Since my time in the US as a graduate fellow at the University of Illinois, I've appreciated the deep importance of the Fourth of July celebration to my American friends. My experience there gave me a personal connection to the United States that continues to inspire me to deepen the strong partnership between our nations.
I developed a particular fondness for the warm and welcoming people of Illinois. And we are lucky in Tbilisi to have an Illinois native as US Ambassador to Georgia. Ambassador Kelly, I hope that you feel as much at home here as I did during the time I spent in your wonderful state.
July 4th is a celebration of America's strong and lasting values - chiefly among them freedom, democracy and rule of law.
These are values that Georgia shares and adheres to. We are proud to stand as a reliable geopolitical ally and strategic partner of the United States as it marks its 240th birthday,"- Prime Minister noted
According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the US has always stood with Georgia. That support has helped Georgia emerge as a regional economic hub and a beacon of democracy, progress, and stability.
In his speech Prime Minister outlined new global challenges and importance of cooperation in the area of global security.
"During my visit to the US in April, Vice President Biden and I discussed the future path to continued progress for Georgia and the deepening of ties between our two nations for the next 25 years and beyond.
Just recently, US and Georgian armed forces held the Noble Partner joint-training exercise, a testament to the strong security cooperation between our countries. The exercises delivered training to the light infantry company that Georgia contributes to the NATO Response Force, and helped Georgia take steps to enhance our territorial self-defense capabilities.
Our unity is especially important in the aftermath of brutal terrorist attacks against whole civilized world. It is vital to show our readiness and determination to stand united in the fight against terrorism and other global security threats we face today," - Giorgi Kvirikashvili stated.
Prime Minister of Georgia thanked the US Government for supporting Georgia's sovereignty and European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
The event marking 240th anniversary of the US statehood was hosted by Ambassador Ian Kelly. Members of legislative and executive branches of government, diplomats and representatives of various sectors of society attended the event.
