Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met with Vahagn Khachaturyan, President of Armenia today.

Meeting held at the Government Administration was focused on the discussion of bilateral cooperation and kind neighborly relations existing between Armenia and Georgia.

Global and regional security issues were discussed at the meeting. The Peaceful Neighborhood Initiative for the South Caucasus launched by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia was discussed as it aims to create a format of dialogue between the three countries along with mutually beneficial cooperation. It was noted that Georgia has always been a supporter of peaceful cooperation and coexistence in the South Caucasus and stands ready to promote the regional dialogue. The President of Armenia expressed his gratitude to Irakli Garibashvili for the contribution made to the process of peaceful dialogue.

Development and advancement of cooperation between the nations was discussed in the areas of energy, connectivity and Black Sea security. Cooperation in the field of trade was discussed. It was noted that trade volumes reached 170.49 MLN USD in Q1 of 2022, which is a 12% increase compared to the previous year. It was highlighted that more room exists for a further increase of trade volumes between Armenia and Georgia.

Meeting held at the Government Administration was attended by Robert Khachatryan, Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia; Paruyr Hovhannisyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia; H.E. Ruben Sadoyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Georgia; Tatevik Karapetyan, Adviser to the President of the Republic of Armenia.

Attendees from the Georgian side included Levan Davitashvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia; Revaz Javelidze, Head of Government Administration; Lasha Darsalia, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia; H.E. Irakli Kvanchakhadze, Charge d' Affairs of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia.

The Head of Government of Georgia visited Yad Vashem together with delegation members during his visit to the State of Israel today.

Irakli Garibashvili had a tour around the museum, laid wreath of garland at the memorial of the victims of Holocaust and made an entry to the Memorial Book.

Opportunities for opening an IT and Service Delivery Centre in Georgia, as well as favourable investment climate existing in the country were among the main topics discussed by and between Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia and Amy Weaver, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Salesforce today.

Meeting was held within the scope of a visit paid by the Head of Government of Georgia to Davos. Business enabling environment and prospects of future cooperation were discussed as well.

The Prime Minister of Georgia invited the CEO of Salesforce to get exposed to the pro-business environment in the country.

It was noted that Georgia is leading in a number of ratings produced by reputable international analytic organizations and right policies pursued by the Government of Georgia result in a quick recovery of the economy in the post-pandemic time.

According to the Head of Government of Georgia, the country has Free Trade Agreements (FTA) with the EU, China and other countries of the region, which let Georgia gain free access to a number of huge consumer markets of the world.

Salesforce is the largest computer software developer, which focuses on the customer relation management applications. Company operates in the USA, Canada, France, Germany, Belgium, Finland, UK, Brazil, Mexico, Israel, China, Japan and Italy. The Head Office of the company is based in San-Francisco, California.

Revenues generated by the company exceeded 26 BLN USD last year.

Prime Minister of Georgia Meets Derek H. Chollet, Foreign Policy Adviser to the United States Secretary of State

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met Derek H. Chollet, Foreign Policy Adviser to the United States Secretary of State today.

The Head of Government of Georgia thanked the US official for his visit to Georgia, thereby noting that it is yet another clear manifestation of US support to the country.

Dignitaries discussed the strategic partnership and prospects of future cooperation between the two nations. It was noted that within the partnership spanning for 30 years already, Georgia is a good example of a country empowered with unwavering support of the USA and assistance rendered to the democratic institutions of the country, capacity building in the defense and economic development.

Dignitaries reviewed the grave situation witnessed in the occupied territories of Georgia. US official clearly reiterated the unwavering support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

Also, discussion was related to the issues of regional security. Attention was paid at the meeting to the military activities currently witnessed in Ukraine. It was noted that Georgia continues to support Ukraine both at the political level - inter alia within the international formats, as well as humanitarian aid. So far over 500 tons of humanitarian cargo has been sent to Ukraine and support towards the war-affected people currently living in Georgia continues to this day.

Significance and strengthening of democratic institutions on the path of European and Euro-Atlantic integration was highlighted at the meeting. It was noted that authorities of the country assign special importance to US cooperation within this process.

Degnan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America (USA) to Georgia; Mark Simakovsky, Deputy Assistant Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); Jason Ham, US Department of Defense Official (Balkans, Caucasus and Black Sea Region) and Florence Akinyemi, Special Adviser to Derek H. Chollet, while the Georgian side included Revaz Javelidze, Head of Government Administration.

Irakli Garibashvili’s meeting with Charles Michel in Brussels

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, as part of his ongoing working visit to Brussels, is holding a series of high-level meetings with the leaders of various European institutions.
This two-day visit includes today's meeting with Charles Michel, President of the European Council. Georgia's EU membership bid and granting the status of a candidate to the country were the key issues discussed.
During the meeting, the parties held extensive discussions on the process of reviewing Georgia's application, including the European Commission's questionnaire, with both of its parts completed by Georgia ahead of schedule, also the country's progress toward implementing the Association Agreement and carrying out democratic reforms. The Prime Minister underlined Georgia's historical choice to return to the European family, emphasizing in this context the importance of the European Commission's opinion and the European Council's decision on granting Georgia the status of a candidate country.
The parties also discussed the region's security situation in light of Russia's military aggression in Ukraine, including the state of affairs in Georgia's occupied territories. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the solidarity and unwavering support of the Georgian Government and people for Ukraine. According to Garibashvili, ending the war in Ukraine is crucially important to all, and the consequences of this war will define the future of both the whole world and Georgia.
Irakli Garibashvili thanked Charles Michel for his personal effort toward supporting Georgia's path to European integration.

WASHINGTON – United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai today met with Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili.  Ambassador Tai and Vice Prime Minister Davitashvili discussed U.S. support for Georgia in this time of crisis in the region. They also discussed how the United States and Georgia can work together on joint initiatives to further deepen the U.S.-Georgia trade relationship.

Ambassador Tai and Vice Prime Minister Davitashvili agreed to stay in communication on these, and other priorities, in the future.

Prime Minister of Georgia Participates in a High-Level International Donors Conference for Ukraine

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia participated ibn a High-Level International Donors Conference for Ukraine within the scope of his visit to the Republic of Poland along with numerous other leaders of participating nations.

The Head of Government of Georgia arrived at the national stadium of Warsaw, which was a designated venue of the high-level conference. He was greeted by Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister of Poland and Magdalena Andersson, Prime Minister of Sweden. The High-Level International Donors Conference is co-hosted by the Prime Ministers of Poland and Sweden, in partnership with the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission. Participants of the conference reviewed the consequences of the war waged in Ukraine and discussed the solutions to the humanitarian and economic crisis.

Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister of Poland addressed the audience along with Magdalena Andersson, Prime Minister of Sweden; Charles Michel, President of the European Council and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. Participants of the conference also listened to the video address of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine.

Prime Minsiter of Sweden, Spain, Ukraine, Lithunia, Latvia, Albania, Croatia, Iceland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Norway were among the participants of the high-level conference.

The Head of Government of Georgia addressed the participating leaders of states at a Pledging Session of the conference.

International Financial Institutions (IFIs), World Health Organization (WHO) and UN system institutions were engaged in the session along with various leaders of the world.

Georgian attendees of the High-Level International Donors Conference included Ilia Darchiashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and H.E. Zurab Beridze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Poland.

Irakli Garibashvili submits EU questionnaire’s part one to Carl Hartzell

Today, at the Government Administration, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili submitted the EU questionnaire's completed part one to Carl Hartzell.
"I am honored to submit to you our answers to the European Commission's questionnaire, to prepare an opinion on Georgia's EU membership bid," the Prime Minister said.
The EU Ambassador wished success to Georgia and emphasized that it is a great honor to be part of this milestone process.
"I would like to express my deep gratitude and underline that it is a great honor to be part of this momentous event and stand by you down this path to your civilizational choice," Carl Hartzell said.
According to the Head of Government, the Government of Georgia, all relevant institutions, continues working intensively on filling the questionnaire's second, sectoral part comprising 33 chapters and up to 2,300 questions. The Georgian Government wants to submit part two of the questionnaire to the EU earlier than expected, with the institutions poised to spare no effort to that end, Irakli Garibashvili added.
After accepting the completed questionnaire, the European Commission will set out to prepare its assessment, to be subsequently referred to the Council of the European Union, which is expected to make a relevant decision in late June.

Irakli Garibashvili: Handover of the EU Accession Questionnaire puts a huge responsibility on us towards intensifying our efforts on the road leading to EU membership

Measures to be carried out for filling the EU Accession Questionnaire, which was handed over by the European Commission to Georgia on 11TH April 2022, have been discussed at the 62ND Session of the Government Commission on EU Integration of Georgia. It was held and led by Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia at the Government Administration today.

The Prime Minister of Georgia highlighted the importance of maximum coordination and active engagement of every institution in making sure that the process of filling is efficient and gets completed in the shortest period of time.

"We filed the EU Membership Application on March 3, thereby advancing to a new stage of EU-Georgia relations. Of course, this decision puts a huge responsibility on our shoulders towards intensifying our efforts on the road of our accession to the European Union. At the meeting today, we discussed the measures to be carried out towards filling the EU Accession Questionnaire handed over by the European Commission to us on April 11. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia personally held a meeting with EU Commissioner Varhelyi in Luxemburg, who actually handed over the EU Accession Questionnaire to him. We gathered today to discuss the measures that need to be carried out by all of us together. Engagement of every stakeholder is essential, along with maximum coordination to make sure that it gets filled in the most efficient manner and returned timely in the form of a complete document" stated the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Ilia Darchiashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia was the key speaker at the meeting related to the EU Accession Questionnaire today. It was noted that a new stage of EU-Georgia relations started with the handover of the said document. As commonly known, the EU Accession Questionnaire has been handed over to all three countries of the Associated Trio - Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova, and this process is continued in this very format.

The EU Accession Questionnaire will be processed by the Georgian side in a timely manner and returned to the European partners, while the European Commission will release its opinion at the end of June 2022. Efficient and effective filling of the document, which will engage every stakeholder, will be organized in the form of workgroups under the umbrella of personal control by the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Prime Minister of Georgia Meets Kairat Abdrakhmanov, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met Kairat Abdrakhmanov, High Commissioner of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) on National Minorities today.

Dignitaries reviewed the successful cooperation of Georgia with OSCE institutions, particularly focusing on the active dynamic of interaction with the Office of High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM).

According to the Head of Government, Georgia is a multi-ethnic country attaching special importance to the effective implementation of the national policy on civic equality and integration. The Prime Minister of Georgia also believes that the referred framework paper developed with an active engagement of HCNM Office aims to create equal opportunities to all citizens of the country, irrespective of their ethnic, religious or other affiliations.

The Prime Minister of Georgia noted at the meeting that Georgia strives to adhere to the high international standards of human rights and freedoms, and to institutionalise the best international practices. The Head of Government of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the OSCE High Commissioner for his active engagement in the consolidation of democratic institutions of Georgia.

It was noted at the meeting that successful cooperation between Georgia and HCNM is evidenced with a vivid example of the education sector, which offers quality teaching and learning opportunities in the mother tongue. Among various mechanisms of a policy on civic integration, access to information and media in minority languages was mentioned, along with wide-scale public awareness campaigns on public programs and services, as well as promotion of cultural events.

Focus was made on the valuable engagement of OSCE in the process of peaceful conflict resolution in Georgia. Reference was also made on the military activities witnessed in Ukraine.

Meeting held at the Government Administration was attended by Mark Fumagal, OSCE HCNM Senior Political Adviser; Zhazira Kul-Mukhammed, OSCE HCNM Personal Adviser; Nino Gogoladze, OSCE HCNM Program Coordinator; Attendees from the Georgian side included H.E. Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Austria accredited to OSCE (Permanent Representation of Georgia) and other international organisations headquartered in Vienna.
