GLOBALink | Swiss snowboarder Pat Burgener plans music career in China after Olympics

Swiss snowboard star and musician Pat Burgener is planning to shine off-piste after the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games. He shared with Xinhua his dream of embarking on a music tour around China following the mega sporting event.

Burgener, a two-time snowboard Olympian, finished 11th in the men's halfpipe final run on Friday. He expressed his satisfaction with the organization of the Games.

Burgener said he will leave China on Sunday to return to Switzerland, with positive memories that will last for a lifetime.

Besides snowboarding, Burgener has pursued a parallel career in music since 2014.

The 27-year-old musician and snowboarder said nothing could spoil his mood as he has already had several creative projects in store.

Bing Dwen Dwen, the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games' official mascot, and Shuey Rhon Rhon, mascot of the Paralympic Winter Games, are topping trends on China's Internet platforms, and the fervor for the mascots epitomizes Chinese people's increasing enthusiasm towards winter sports.

Li Xue is an inheritor of paper pleating and paper folding art in the city of Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province.

She ingeniously makes the mascots with paper after a series of procedures including selecting materials, cutting, pleating, shaping and assembling.

Li hopes her paper-pleating artwork can present the beauty of China's intangible cultural heritage and the charm of the Winter Olympics.

NBC Olympics Selects SES Satellite Distribution for its 4K HDR Production of 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang

SES to Enable NBC Olympics to Transmit High Dynamic Range Signal Across the United States During Its Coverage of 2018 PyeongChang Olympics

STAMFORD, CONN. – February 13, 2018 – NBC Olympics, a division of the NBC Sports Group, has selected SES to provide 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) satellite distribution for its production of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games, which take place in PyeongChang, South Korea, from February 8 - February 25. The announcement was made today by David Mazza CTO & SVP, NBC Olympics, and Steve Corda, Vice President, North America Media Platform, SES.

SES will use its satellite platform to distribute the NBC Olympics HDR feed to their affiliates throughout the United States, utilizing the SES-1 satellite located at 101 degrees West. As part of the implementation, SES has provided preconfigured satellite receivers to the affiliates that will be receiving the HDR feed. SES’s 4K platform provides multichannel video program distributors (MVPDs) in the United States access to the world’s largest bouquet of linear 4K programming.

“NBC Olympics is pleased to work with SES to offer 4K HDR coverage of the PyeongChang Games to our valued distribution partners,” said Mazza. “The HDR feed distributed by SES, and presented by Xfinity, will complement our HDR Video On Demand offering available to MVPDs and satellite providers across the United States.”

“We are pleased that NBC has entrusted SES again, similar to the 2016 Summer Olympics, to help deliver the 4K programming for these Olympic Winter Games,” said Corda. “Our 4K platform provides MVPDs throughout the Americas access to the world’s largest selection of linear 4K programming.”

NBC Olympics will distribute 4K HDR coverage, provided by Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) and Japan’s NHK, to U.S. distribution partners who will individually choose how they will make the content available to their customers.

NBC’s 4K HDR coverage of the PyeongChang Games will be made available on delay, and will include 4K footage from the Opening Ceremony, hockey, figure skating, short track speed skating, ski jumping, and snowboard big air competitions. Up to four events from the previous day’s competition will be provided daily from February 10, the day after the Opening Ceremony, through February 26, the day after the Games conclude.

Xfinity is the presenting sponsor of NBC Olympics’ 4K coverage of the PyeongChang Games.

The President of Georgia will attend Summer Rio Olympic games in August. According to Tengiz Pkhaladze, Giorgi Margvelashvili will arrive in Brazil with First Lady Maka Chichua. He will meet World Leaders in the frames of Rio Summer Olympics.

São Paulo, June 16, 2016 – Today, Visa and Bradesco introduced the Pulseira Bradesco Visa, the first payment wearable by the two companies for the Brazilian market that is being piloted in advance of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The new product, which will be universally accepted at Rio 2016, is an innovation in contactless payments powered by Near Field Communication (NFC) technology that combines technology, fashion and sports, the to improve consumers’ shopping experience.

The Pulseira Bradesco Visa is one of the new payment form factors that will offered in Rio, giving select fans and attendees the chance to swipe, tap, dip or click when paying at the games. The wearable band is exclusively available in Brasil, where it will be e accepted by over one million electronic NFC-enabled readers, which allow information exchange between devices through proximity. During the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, all of the four thousand POS terminals deployed at the Olympic Park will feature the technology.

In order to enhance the user experience, an companion app allows customers to monitor their transaction history, view their account balance, block the device in the event of theft or loss, and top up their balance on the accompanying prepaid card.
