Co-operation between Georgia and Greece is of strategic importance

Tbilisi – Co-operation between Georgia and Greece is of strategic importance – Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias said at a joint press conference after his meeting with Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze. According to Nikos Kotzias, Greece welcomes Georgia’s integration with the EU. The Greek Foreign Minister congratulated Georgia on the decision granting Georgian citizens visa-free travel with the EU. The Greek Foreign Minister reaffirmed his Government’s firm support for Georgia’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Foreign Minister of the Hellenic Republic arrived for the first time for his official visit in Georgia. He is due to hold meetings with representatives of the executive and legislative branches of the government.

Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with his Greek counterpart Nikos Kotzias. Talking points included traditional partner relations between the two countries. The two Ministers underlined the importance of appropriate celebration of the 25th anniversary of establishment of the diplomatic relations between Georgia and Greece. In this respect, Mikheil Janelidze invited his colleague to pay an official visit to Georgia to mark this date.
Mikheil Janelidze and Nikos Kotzias highlighted a huge potential of co-operation in different spheres and the importance of high-level political consultations with a view to further enhancing the relations. Mikheil Janelidze expressed Georgia’s readiness to host the next round of political consultations between the two Foreign Ministries in Tbilisi.
Mikheil Janelidze and Nikos Kotzias discussed opportunities of development of relations in the trade and economic spheres. 
Nikos Kotzias reaffirmed Greece’s support for Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration and underlined the importance of granting Georgia visa-free travel with the EU.  Nikos Kotzias expressed his readiness to visit Tbilisi in the near future.
