The Chair of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, ME Eka Beselia held the meeting with the Ambassador of the Netherlands, Mr. Jos Douma.
At the introductory meeting, the parties discussed future cooperation perspectives and other relevant issues. “The meeting with the Dutch Diplomat was very important. We spoke about interesting issues, including cooperation and visa free support. I introduced the Committee activity and the reforms under development. The meeting was very productive and oriented on future cooperation”, - E. Beselia stated.

Davit Bakradze visited Netherlands

The State Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Georgia Davit Bakradze will hold the meeting in Netherlands. According to the Ministry, Davit Bakradze had already arrived in Netherlands. The bilateral meetings are planned between him and the Deputy Foreign Ministry of Netherlands, with the Director of European Cooperation, with the special representatives of European and East Partnership of Foreign Ministry of Netherlands, also Bakradze will meet the members of House of Representatives of Netherlands.
In the framework of the visit Davit Bakradze will hold public lecture in Hague Institute for Global Justice.

Deadly train crash in Netherlands

One person has been killed in a train crash in the Netherlands. According to Euronews, At least ten others were injured when the passenger train derailed near the town of Dalfsen, some 120 kilometres east of Amsterdam.
Carriages toppled over into a field after the train hit a maintenance crane on a crossing at around 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Fortunately, only 15 people or so were travelling on the rush-hour service.
Eyewitness reports say the maintenance vehicle was slowly crossing the tracks when the crash took place. An investigation is underway.

Throughout the meeting Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Mark Rutte emphasized the prospects of deepening the cooperation between their respective countries. The head of the Government of Georgia extended his gratitude to Mark Rutte for supporting territorial integrity and state sovereignty of Georgia. The Parties agreed to exchange high-level visits.
The Netherlands represents one of the most important partners of Georgia. It is noteworthy that in the list of the 50 largest investors in Georgia 11 investors were residents of the Netherlands in 2014 and 10 - in the first two quarters of 2015.

Giorgi Kvirikashvili has received the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Georgia

Georgian Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Georgia Johannes Douma.

Discussions focused on the Georgian-Dutch relations, as well as on prospects for the further deepening of close co-operation between the two countries.  Special attention was paid to the importance of developing trade-economic partnership between Georgia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands and of attracting greater volume of Dutch investments to Georgia.
 
Talking points also included the progress Georgia has achieved towards visa liberalisation with the EU, Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration prospects, the situation in the occupied territories and the ongoing developments in the region.

Ambassador of Netherlands to Georgia has presented Copies of his credentials to the Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister

On 25 September 2015,   newly appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Georgia H.E. Johannes Douma presented copies of his credentials to Georgian Foreign Minister Gigi Gigiadze.

At the meeting held after the ceremony, Gigi Gigiadze congratulated Johannes Douma on his appointment as Ambassador to Georgia wishing him success in his future activities and expressing the hope that the relations between the two countries will be further strengthened. The Deputy Foreign Minister thanked the Ambassador for the Dutch Government’s firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The sides emphasized the extensive potential for the further deepening of co-operation in various areas between Georgia and the Netherlands.

The Ambassador, in turn, reaffirmed the support of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for Georgia, expressing his readiness to contribute towards the development of relations between the two countries and to bring them to an even higher level.

Gigi Gigiadze and Johannes Douma discussed the current developments in Georgia, high level meetings and visits, visa liberalisation with the EU and progress achieved by the country. They also focused on Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration and future prospects, on the situation in Georgia’s occupied territories and on the current developments in the region as whole.

The parties spoke about Riga summit, EU and NATO integration of Georgia. According to Anke-Brokers Knoll, the Netherlands values relations with Georgia and the progress of Georgia in democracy development. Existence of Georgia in the region is important for Europe.

According to T. Khidasheli, taking the geo-political situation in the region, support of European friends is of utmost importance. The parties spoke about Russia-Georgia relations and challenges to Georgia and to the region, as well as Ukraine situation and ISIS.

“Current processes are the alarming signal that the Netherlands and other European countries shall realize that support of such democratic countries as Georgia is important”, - Anke-Brokers Knoll stated.

The Dutch Parliament has ratified EUAA with Georgia, for which T. Khidasheli thanked the guest. According to Anke-Brokers Knoll, this fact confirms that Holland supports Georgia to become member of European family.

According to T. Khidasheli, European experience is important for Georgia in EU integration terms. As the parties agreed, the Parliamentary Committees shall enhance relations. “We will do our best to render support to you. The Netherlands was an active supporter of Georgia and always will be”.

The meeting was attended by L. Berdzenishvili and G. Kandelaki. The visit started on April 29 and will end on May 1.

The Meeting of Tedo Japaridze with the President of Dutch Senate

T. Japaridze thanked the guest for the visit and noted that support by the Netherlands is important for Georgia. The Netherlands, in democracy development, financial system construction with the WB, Monetary Fund and donor countries, contributed a lot. According to G. Tsereteli, the Netherlands is a partner for Georgia and one of the decision-making countries in Europe.

T. Japaridze spoke about the role of the Parliament in democratic institution building and inter-Parliamentary cooperation. Sharing Dutch experience in EU integration process is necessary for Georgia. “We build democratic country where the rule of law, justice principles will be protected. We may make mistakes but we also learn and will not deviate from this course. Development of Georgia in this direction is an irreversible process”.

One of the main priorities for Georgia is democracy capacity building, which is necessary for security and fast realization of EUAA and visa liberalization serve for this purpose. “Georgian people shall see that Europe is not indifferent to them”.

According to Anke-Brokers Knoll, Georgia has achieved significant process. EU integration of Georgia is important for the Netherlands as well as Georgia is the hub for democracy in the region.

As T. Japaridze stated, Georgia can become the bridge between the region and Europe. The parties spoke about EU integration and Russia-Georgia relations. As Georgian MPs noted, Georgian citizens, the Government and the opposition are loyal to European values.

According to Anke-Brokers Knoll, the Netherlands gives high evaluation to progress of Georgia. “My country will remain the devoted friend of Georgia”. The parties agreed on cooperation.
