DEVELOPMENT OF BILATERAL COOPERATION BETWEEN TURKMENISTAN AND GEORGIA IN THE TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS SECTOR

On April 9, 2020, a telecast was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, teachers and students of the Institute of International Relations, as well as leaders and representatives of the Turkmen Logistics Association, government agencies “Türkmendemirýollary”, “Türkmenawtoulaglary”, Türkmenhowaýollary, Türkmendeňizderýaýollary”.

From the Georgian side the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia A. Sagirashvili took part via video link, as well as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Turkmenistan M. Murdzhikneli participated to the meeting.

According to the participants of this event, the transport sector is one of the key vectors of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and Georgia. This interaction is based on the coincidence of the positions of the parties on the creation of transport and transit corridors between Asia and Europe.

Also the parties discussed the existing and planned transport corridors, the possibilities of delivering goods to European ports, the work done to date and the prospects for cooperation between Turkmenistan and Georgia.
