Today in Tbilisi, Saburtalo district unidentified persons physically assaulted Mr. Aleksi Petriashvili and caused injuries with a firearm in his both legs.
According to the preliminary information, by the moment of the attack Aleksi Petriashvili with his three friends was at the cemetery of the former diplomat – Levan Mikeladze.
The incident was immediately reported to the Operative Management Center “112” by a civilian residing in the nearby building.
Tbilisi Police Department of the MIA launched investigation over the serious intentional damage to health, the crime envisaged by the article 117, Criminal Code of Georgia.
The incident had a place in the territory of Brothers’ Cemetery.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs appeals to witnesses to cooperate with the law enforcement authorities to investigate the crime in a timely manner.
At this moment health condition of Aleksi Petriashvili is stable.
The officers of Tbilisi Police Department along with the officers of Isani-Samgori Division as a result of operative-searching activities detained in Tbilisi Rita B (DoB: 1977) and Vukar K. (DoB: 1968) for non-compliance with the lawful demand of a law-enforcement officers.
The investigation established that on February 21, 2016 the detainees stormed Ponichala Police Unit of Isani-Samgori Division and verbally abused the police officers. Despite repeated legal demands of law enforcement officers to leave the premises and stop illegal activities the detainees ignored legal demands of police officers and obstructed the working process.The investigation is in progress on the fact of non-compliance with the lawful order or demand and verbal abuse of a law-enforcement officer discharging his/her service duties (Article 173 of the Administrative Offences Code of Georgia).
The officers of Telavi Regional Division of Kakheti Police Department of the MIA as a result of immediate operative-investigative activities on the fact of premeditated murder detained previously convicted G.G.
The investigation established that in Telavi region the detainee on the basis of conflict inflicted the injuries with a cold arm to V.G. (DoB: 1968) and fled from the scene. The victim died immediately upon his transfer to the hospital.
The law enforcers detained G.G. in a few hours. During the search of a detainee the weapon of murder – knife - was seized by police as an evidence. The detainee has already pleaded guilty.
The preliminary investigation revealed the circumstances related to mental health of a detainee that may be the reason for the murder committed.
The investigation is in progress on the fact of premeditated murder (Article 108 of the Criminal Code of Georgia).
The officers of Lagodekhi Regional Division of Kakheti Police Department of the MIA, as a result of the operative-investigative measures detained Shengeli T. (D.o.B.: 1970), Murman G. (D.o.B.: 1970) and Omar B. (D.o.B.: 1986) for resistance, threat or violence against police officers committed by a group with a prior agreement.
Immediately upon the report the law enforcers went to the place, where, according to the prior information, the offenders unlawfully cut woods. Before arrival to the mentioned place the police officers noticed “Ford-Transit” mark minivan suspiciously moving in the vicinity of the woodland in Poladaani village, Lagodekhi region.
Law enforcers stopped the vehicle in order to check it but Shengeli T., the driver insulted verbally and physically the police officer without any explanation.
By the moment of detention of Shengeli T., Murman G. and Omar B. – accompanying the offender - also engaged in the incident. All three individuals physically insulted police officer and prevented him to discharge his service duties.
Law enforcers detained Shengel T. on the place while Murman G. and Omar B. managed to flee. They were detained on the next day by the police.
The expertise established that all three individuals were under the influence of alcohol by the moment of the incident. The operative-searching measures are in progress for identification and detention of other individuals.
Police officers with the injuries underwent the forensic medical expertise.
The investigation is underway on the fact of violence against police officers which aims to interfere with the protection of public order, terminate or modify the activities of the above person, committed by a group with a prior agreement (II part of the article 353, Criminal Code of Georgia).
The officers of Tbilisi Police Department and Isani-Samgori Division, as a result of jointly held operative-searching and investigative activities, detained Elchin I. (D.o.B.: 1999, citizen of Russian Federation) in Tbilisi.
The investigation revealed that the accused, together with his accomplices, on February 19 unlawfully imprisoned Samira B. (D.o.B.: 1998), residing in Ponichala village with the purpose to marry her. The operative-searching activities are in progress to detain the accomplices of Elchin I.
The investigation is underway on the fact of unlawful imprisonment of a minor with a prior agreement by a group (article 143, clauses “a” and “b” of the III part).
The officers of the I Unit of Gldani-Nadzaladevi Police Division of the MIA, as a result of the investigative activities detained Givi G. (DoB 1995) in Tbilisi for illegal purchase, keeping and carrying explosives and ammunition.
During the searching activities held in the detainee’s vehicle law enforcers seized the “RG-42” type hand grenade hull and “UZRGM” type 2 explosive fuses.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal purchase, keeping and carrying explosives and ammunition (article 236, II-III parts of the Criminal Code of Georgia).
The officers of the VII Unit of Old Tbilisi Police Division of the MIA as a result of the operative-searching activities detained Davit M. (D.o.B.: 1976) in Tbilisi, Kostava street for illegal carrying of firearm and ammunitions.
During the personal search of the detainee policemen seized “Makarov” system unregistered pistol, 1 cartridge and 8 bullets. According to the expert report the firearm and the ammunition seized are suitable for shooting. Detainee has already pleaded guilty.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of illegal carrying of firearms (article 236, III part of the Criminal Code of Georgia).
The Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched a nationwide project "Education for Future Profession". The project aims at making the information on education in the Academy public and available to the society.
The project will allow future students to learn about theoretical and practical training principles of the Academy of the MIA. In Police buildings the presentations for the senior pupils on the relevant topic shall be done by representatives of the Academy and different units of the MIA.
The project is already launched in Shida Kartli, Imereti, Kakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and Adjara. In the nearest future the project will involve Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Samtskhe-Javakheti, Guria, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti regions.
The officers of Detectives and District Inspectors Divisions of the Police Department of Adjara A/R, along with the officers of Batumi Division and Khelvachauri Regional Division as a result of operative-searching activities detained 4 individuals - Kadir A. (DoB: 1969), Jemal T. (DoB: 1971), Tarik A. (DoB: 1972) and Ketevan B. (DoB: 1974) - for providing lodging to prostitution. The investigation established that detained persons provided lodging to prostitution for certain amount of cash in their hotels and rented flats in Batumi and Gonio.
The law enforcers have already interrogated hotel personnel and female witnesses. The detainees have already pleaded guilty.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of making available an area for prostitution (Article 254 of the Criminal Code of Georgia).
In compliance with the Law of Georgia on Police the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the purpose of crime prevention and public order carried out special police control throughout the country.
As a result of police control carried out on February 18-19, 2016 by the Central Criminal Police Department and territorial units of MIA 3 wanted persons and 1 citizen of Russian Federation illegally residing in the country were detained.
101 criminal cases were revealed, among them:
illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearms (Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia) – 20 cases;
illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of drugs (Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia) – 15 cases;
repeated use of drugs (Article 273 of the Criminal Code of Georgia) – 24 cases;
stealing (Article 177 of the Criminal Code of Georgia) – 28 cases;
The law enforcers revealed 769 administrative offences among them:
illegal use of drugs (Article 45 of the Administrative Offences Code) - 71 cases;
minor hooliganism (Article 166 of the Administrative Offences Code) - 7 cases;
disobedience / hooliganism (Articles 166 and 173 of the Administrative Offences Code) - 38 cases;
carrying of cold weapons (Article 181 of the Administrative Offences Code) - 34 cases;
drinking alcoholic beverages in public places (Article 171 of the Administrative Offences Code) - 30 cases;
589 different offenses.
As a result of the police control the law enforcers seized 4 automatic rifles, 1 rifle, cut hunting gun, 5 pistols, 57 hand grenades, 4 capsule-detonators and 732 cartridges of different calibers, also 73 pills of "Subutex", 1 packages of "buprenorphine", 5 packages of "bio", 6 pills and a piece of "subutex”, 3 gr. of heroin, 2 packages of marijuana and 1 package of vegetative mass were seized.
Accordingly, 37 individuals were detained for criminal offences, among them: 11 persons for the crime envisaged by the Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, 7 persons for the crime envisaged by the Article 236of the Criminal Code of Georgia, 14 persons for the crime envisaged by the Article 177 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, 2 persons for the crime envisaged by the Article 273 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, 2 persons for the crime envisaged by the Article 353 of the Criminal Code of Georgia and 1 person for the crime envisaged by the Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
