EchoStar 105/ SES-11 Successfully Launched on SpaceX’s Falcon 9

Dual-mission satellite will enable SES to accelerate delivery of HD and UHD channels using C-band capacity across the US, while Ku-band payload will serve EchoStar’s enterprise, media and broadcast needs

Luxembourg/ Cape Canaveral, 12 October 2017 – SES announced today that the EchoStar 105/ SES-11 satellite was successfully launched into space on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 00:53 CEST. This is the second time SES has launched on a flight-proven Falcon 9 rocket, and the fourth launch with SpaceX. SES was the first commercial customer to launch on a Falcon 9 in 2013.

Built by Airbus, EchoStar 105/ SES-11 is a dual-mission satellite, providing SES with a C-band payload of 24 transponders of 36 MHz, owned and operated by SES, marketed under the name SES-11, and EchoStar with 24 Ku-band transponders of 36 MHz, marketed as EchoStar 105. The high-powered communications satellite replaces C-band capacity for AMC-18 and Ku-band capacity for AMC-15 at the 105 degrees West orbital slot.

SES-11 is designed to accelerate the development of the US Prime video neighbourhood and the delivery of high definition (HD) and ultra-high definition (UHD) channels. It offers comprehensive coverage over North America, including Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean. The satellite's C-band capacity is optimised for digital television delivery, and will join SES-1 and SES-3 at the centre of SES’s North American orbital arc which reaches more than 100 million TV homes and 100% penetration in the US.

SES-11 will be utilised for the expansion of SES’s North America Ultra HD platform, which hosts the world's largest Ultra HD bouquet of 10 Ultra HD channels and reaches a combined audience of more than 10 million subscribers.

SES-11 will also empower business and government customers to capture new opportunities and expand their reach across the region.

SES-10 launched successfully on SpaceX’s flight-proven Falcon 9 rocket

SES-10 at 67 degrees West will provide direct-to-home broadcasting, enterprise and mobility services across Latin America

KENNEDY SPACE CENTRE, FLORIDA, 30 MARCH 2017 -- SES (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) announces that the SES-10 satellite was successfully launched into space onboard a flight-proven SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket at 18:27 EST from NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre, Florida. SES-10 is the first geostationary commercial satellite to ever launch on a flight-proven first-stage rocket booster.

With a Ku-band payload of 55 36MHz transponder equivalents, of which 27 are incremental, the multi-mission spacecraft is the first SES satellite wholly dedicated to providing service to Latin America. SES-10's high-powered beams will augment SES’s capabilities across the region providing direct-to-home broadcasting, enterprise and mobility services.

SES-10 will replace capacity currently provided by other SES satellites at 67 degrees West, as well as bring additional capacity to Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

Pursuant to an agreement with the Andean Community (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru), the satellite will operate as the Andean Community’s Simón Bolivar 2 providing satellite capacity for each Andean Member State. The Andean satellite project comes from the shared Member States’ interests of having a common satellite network taking advantage of the Andean spectrum resources at 67 degrees West.

SES-10 is built by Airbus Defence and Space and is based on the Eurostar E3000 platform. The satellite will utilise an electric plasma propulsion system for on-orbit manoeuvres and a chemical system for initial orbit raising and some on-orbit manoeuvres.

LUXEMBOURG/CAPE CANAVERAL, FLORIDA, 4 March 2016 -- SES S.A. (NYSE Euronext
Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) announced today that its SES-9 satellite was
successfully launched into space on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Cape Canaveral Air
Force Station, Florida. SES-9 roared into space at 6:35 pm East Coast time 00:35 am on 5
March Central European Time and separated from the second stage of the SpaceX rocket 31
minutes later.
SES-9 uses a chemical bi-propellant thruster to conduct major post-launch manoeuvers,
completing its journey to its orbit at 36,000 kilometers above the Equator with an electric
propulsion system. The on-orbit maneuvering throughout the 15 year nominal lifetime of the
satellite will be done entirely by electric propulsion. SES-9 is planned to commence its services
in the third quarter of this year.
SES-9 is SES’s largest satellite to serve the Asia-Pacific region. It weighed 5.3 tonnes at the
launch and has 57 high-power Ku-band transponders – equivalent to 81x36 MHz transponders’
It thus provides significant expansion capacity to serve the buoyant and fast-growing video,
enterprise, mobility and government sectors across Northeast Asia, South Asia, India, Indonesia
and the Philippines. SES-9 will be co-located with another SES satellite, SES-7, at the prime
orbital location of 108.2 degrees East, and will replace the NSS-11 spacecraft at that position.
SES-9 was built by Boeing Satellite Systems International.
