The former Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili begins meeting with journalists. According to the Press office of Kartu Group, Giorgi Idzilauri, Bidzina Ivanishvili will meet the journalists tomorrow.
The meeting will hold in Techno Park, in Okrokana and will begin at 12:00 p.m. It will continue about 2 hours. The representatives of 10 companies will attend the meeting.
For press and radio journalists, Bidzina Ivanishvili will meet them at 14 June.
Two journalists in Turkey have been sentenced to two years in jail for "insulting religious values" after they reprinted a controversial cover from the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo above their columns. According to aljazeera, an Istanbul court on Thursday sentenced Ceyda Karan and Hikmet Cetinkaya to two years behind bars for illustrating their columns with a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad published by French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo.
"The two journalists were sentenced to two years each in jail," said Bulent Utku, lawyer for Hikmet Cetinkaya and Ceyda Karan. "We will appeal the ruling at the appeals court," Utku told AFP news agency following a hearing at Istanbul's criminal court.
Writing on her Twitter account @ceydak, Karan lashed out at the Turkish government, saying: "Let our two-year sentence be a gift for our liberal fascists #JeSuisCharlie."
Muslim Turkey's constitution strictly separates state and religion, but its penal code makes it a crime to insult religion.
On January 14, 2015, Cumhuriyet published a four-page Charlie Hebdo pullout translated into Turkish marking the French satirical weekly's first issue since a deadly attack on its Paris offices by gunmen earlier that month.The edition included a smaller version of the cartoon twice inside the newspaper to illustrate columns on the subject by Karan and Cetinkaya. Most other media in Turkey had refrained from publishing the cover.
Minister of Defence of Georgia made comment regarding the current developments in Nagorno-Karabakh in the interview with journalists.
“The main task of Georgia is to do everything to insure stability of the region and particularly for Georgia. Therefore we are appealing to the international community to make all the efforts to insure achieving decision on cease fire. This is the main task today being discussed at any negotiation table. I hope that the talks ongoing in different European cities will finish successfully. Besides that the information spread about the statements made by the U.S. Secretary of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation is promising. We all know well enough that such conflicts are frequently resolved through a dialogue. Maintaining of regional stability is extremely important for Georgia and this is our key task by this moment”, said Defence Minister.
