1. Please briefly introduce yourself and your organization.

I am Phati Bukhrikidze.

I am a woman of women's peace movement and I represent Georgia Organization "Women and Development, which works in the most conflicting region in Shida Kartli, Georgia. At time of armed conflict going in Georgia, in August 2008, the state of Russia occupied the whole central region of Shida Kartli, Georgia.  Women and girls of Shida Kartli, who represent 2/3 of the whole population, were especially incurred by war activities and occupation.

2. First of all, we would like to ask you what “peace”; means and why you think “peace”; is needed in Georgia

The peace for me means to leave a legacy of world of peace for future generations by expanding peace work among the groups working for realization of world peace and the improvement of women's status.

3. What was your motivation for you to begin collaborating with International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) and what kinds of projects have you been doing in “affiliation with IWPG?

Our motivation is that for to begin collaborating with IWPG is an international peace NGO that protects children with a motherly heart and works to leave a legacy of a peaceful world to the future generation. IWPG works for the prosperity of humanity and for the protection of the beautiful global village with peace. In particular, it is very important for our children and young adults, who will be our future leaders, to realize the painful history of war and to plant peaceful hearts to achieve world peace and cessation of war.

We cooperate with IWPG on women's peace education, development of women's peacekeeping movement, spreading peace and spreading culture.

4. I heard you had a meeting with the first advisor to the president of Georgia to deliver the peace letters. Who wrote those Peace Letters? How did you get to take part in the Peace Letters campaign?

I personally handed peace letters to give the President's Advisor. These peace letters were written by women activists of the peace movement, who have experimented with the horrors of war pain. I participated in the Peace Letter campaign. I wrote a letter of peace in my hand, where I asked the President of Georgia, to support the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) is the answer to achieving peace, which was first declared by an NGO HWPL (Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light), in 2016.

5. Please tell us how the first advisor to the president of Georgia reacted about those Peace Letters? Did she give you any reply?

Meeting with the President's Advisor is very positive. In response to DPCW’s support for UN and IWPG Ms. Ketevan Makharashvili said: that the president’s administration is working with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the issue and they will give us about decision information.

6. What are the ultimate aims and goals that you would like to achieve through this Peace Letters Campaign? I would like to ask you if you have any further plan to achieve such aims and goals.

Through this peace letter campaign, my goal is to make more women in this movement in order to force the Georgian government to support the UN DPCW

7. Please give some words to the women’s organizations in Georgia and the organizations working for peace in Georgia.

My initiative and active member of Women's Peace Movement in Georgia, In Shida Kartli there are hundreds of women and girls and this movement is headed by Women and Development and Feminist Initiatives Foundation

A conference aimed at advocating for the implementation of an international legal document compatible with the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) was convened by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) on November 24, 2016 in Coex Auditorium. Korean political officials, religious leaders, press, and citizens, a total of 1,000 people, gathered to demonstrate the urgency with which a legally binding document based on the principles of the DPCW must be implemented.
HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee emphasized that the work of peace can no longer be put off and that the leaders must take action beyond mere lip service.
“Although we pass down something valuable to the next generations, would it really be an eternal legacy? Only when we pass on to successive generations an invaluable inheritance of a world free of wars, will we meet our responsibilities as leaders, citizens, and people of today. The international community has to acknowledge what is delineated in the DPCW and then modify and develop the current international legal systems.”
The advocacy conference sought to demonstrate how to remedy disparities caused by war and war-like activities throughout the world, and it also showed the concrete efforts and interests of participants in creating an environment for peace-building.
Chairwoman Nam Hee Kim of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) said that women’s leadership and participation improves the likelihood of the success of the global peace process.
“Sustainable peace is yet beingwaited for. What can explain this? That is because peace is not something that can be achieved by the authority or power of politicians or noble men. However, despite many obstacles, the work of peace must be done. IWPG gathers the 3.6 billion women of the world and actively works for the Declaration to be adopted by the UN. This legal framework will become a fundamental enforceable law for the generations to come.”
Eight panelists representing government, civil society, university, and faith-based organization seach spoke respectively about their explicit support for the Declaration and urged that the leaders at all levels should cooperate with HWPL’s work for peace and cessation of war.
Mr. Yu-Hyuk Kim, tenured emeritus professorof Dan-Kuk University said, “Why is it that the globe sounds the same pitch in spite of the differences in language, skin color, culture, and life style? The only reason is this. We all have the same purpose of achieving the world of peace without wars. In reality, it is to make a better future and ideally, it is to infinitely settle peace and realize the far-reaching universal value of humanity.”
He continued, “This work has been proclaimed by many, but HWPL Chairman, the greatest peace advocate, is beyond the proclamation and always on themove to bring forth peace. Today, this conference serves as a significant platform to urge leaders and citizens to support the implementation of international law inspired by the DPCW and be resolute to work for peace with the peace advocate.”
The 2016 Conference in Support of HWPL's Work for Peace and Cessation of War brought the Korean leaders to the forefront of international peace and security and presented their creative partnerships to inspire the world in the peace-building arena under the banner of the DPCW.

The parade, reminiscent of the Rio Olympics Closing Ceremony, proceeded with various themes, countries; national flowers, world traditional dances, royal procession, language masks, etc. Each performer dressed in  a variety of costumes and colors according to their theme, and performed various acts like going around the tracks, while the spectators stood up from their seats and danced.
In his commemorative address, Chairman Lee of HWPL said, “Here today at the Peace Festival for the 2 nd Annual Commemoration of the WARP Summit, the spirits of heaven and people of the earth are gathered, as well as the eyes, ears, and hearts of the global community. Let us urge them (heads of state and religious leaders) to sign their support for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War and let us sign our support as well. This is the way to love the world and all the people, like the light, rain, and air of the heavens. This is true politics and true religion; this is true love and peace.”
IWPG Chairwoman Kim said, "To speed up the advancement towards an era of peace, I propose a code of conduct to the global community. First, heads of state around the world should become one for peace and support the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War. Second, all the religions of the world should transcend denominations and doctrines to become one for peace. Third, all women and youth of the world should join the IWPG and IPYG in promoting the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War and urging support for the Declaration. Fourth, peace education should be implemented throughout the world," urging the involvement of all people.
The highlight of the event was the card section performance by 11,440 IPYG youth members. One of the youth volunteers of the card sections, Min Ji Song, said, "Many of the card section participants were able to be gathered by their efforts for achieving peace. I hope this kind of heart can become a seed planted in the hearts of people and inspire a sincerity for pace.” She said she wants to give hope to all the people in the world who have suffered from wars and conflicts.
The performance was split into 3 scenes: the history and pain of world wars I and II, the peace activities of HWPL for the cessation of war, and the peaceful unification of the two Koreas, all seeking for peace.
