Prime Minister's Visit to the Federal Republic of Germany has started. Giorgi Kvirikashvili will hold a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The sides will discuss bilateral relations between Georgia and Germany, the cooperation issues between EU and Georgia and the regional developments. After the meeting, the Prime Minister and German Chancellor will held a joint press conference.
During the visit, Giorgi Kvirikashvili will hold bilateral meetings. Prime Minister will hold a meeting with the President of the Bundestag Norbert Lammert, the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Federal Minister for Education and Research Johanna Wanka, Chair of Foreign Affairs Committee of the Bundestag Norbert Rottgen.
Prime Minister will deliver a public speech at the "Friedrich Ebert Foundation". He will discuss the country's foreign policy, importance of European integration as well as the situation in the region.
At Humboldt University Giorgi Kvirikashvili will deliver a lecture on the topic of "Georgia's European Way". During the visit, the Georgian-German business forum will be held with the participation of Georgian and German business representatives.
By the end of his visit to Federal Republic of Germany, Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili will attend a reception marking the 25th anniversary of reclaiming independence.
The Georgian delegation includes Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze, Minister of Interior Giorgi Mghebrishvili, Minister of Education Alexander Jejelava, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Keteval Bochorishvili, Business Ombudsman Giorgi Gakharia, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament Tedo Japaridze.
The World Bank welcomes Government's 4-point reform plan, - respective statement was made by the World Bank's Regional Director for the South Caucasus Mercy Tembon, after her meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili.
The main topic of the conversation was partnership between the World Bank and Georgia within the frames of Country Partnership Strategy - program that foresees the total financial support of USD 1.2 billion.
The implementation process of the Program was assessed positively by the World Bank.
"This Program encompasses time period from 2014 to 2017 and towards the end of it, we discussed the progress achieved during the implementation process. We welcome Government's 4-point reform agenda, which includes areas, such as education, infrastructure and growth of effectiveness of public sector. We hope that this will be a new step in terms of preparation for the new project, which will launch in 2018-2020. We will work in close cooperation with Georgian Government and partners to ensure success of this agenda. We are very optimistic about it," Mercy Tembon noted.
The meeting was attended by Jan van Bilsen, Regional Manager of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for the South Caucasus and the Business ombudsman Giorgi Gakharia, Secretary of Economic Council.
Development of land, rail and air transport and strategic partnership of Georgia and Turkey were the main discussion topics of Giorgi Kvirikashvili and the Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communication of Turkey Binali Yıldırım.
The conversation also touched upon the importance of the Marabda-Kartsakhi Railway project. Turkish Minister assured the Prime Minister of Georgia that the project will be finalized at the earliest opportunity.
Meeting conducted at the Administration of the Government of Georgia was attended by the Vice Prime Minister Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Dimitry Kumsishvili and the Secretary of the Economic Council, business ombudsman Giorgi Gakharia.
Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili and Director of the ADB Resident Mission Yesim Elhan-Kayalar discussed growth of the scale of the infrastructure projects as well as acceleration of their implementation during their meeting today.
Conversation also touched upon the prospects of real market development and implementation of the new pension system. Pursuant to Yesim Elhan-Kayalar, the ADB will enhance its assistance to Georgia through supporting economic development and empowering regional networks.
The meeting held at the Administration of Government of Georgia was also attended by the Secretary of the Economic Council, business ombudsman Giorgi Gakharia.
