Course graduation ceremony held in Krtsanisi

NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Center (JTEC) hosted a solemn ceremony dedicated to the graduation of the courses of the Captain Career School of the Combined Army Center.

Deputy Chief of the Georgian Defence Forces and Acting Chief of the General Staff Brigadier General Irakli Dzneladze, Commander of Trainings and Military Education Command Colonel Grigol Chelidze and other MoD officials granted diplomas to 106 graduates.

The Captain's Career School provides training for the commanders, battalion and brigade staff officers as well as insures development of commanding skills.

The graduates underwent career programs in maneuvering, intelligence, artillery, aviation, military-engineering, air defense, logistics, personnel, medicine and communications. The aim of the course is to promote effective coordination and interaction between the different units.

Since its foundation, 1,600 military personnel finished the School.         

The EU Monitoring Mission hosts a Medical Security Course in Tbilisi

The EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) Georgia hosted a Medical Security Course in the Mission Headquarters, Tbilisi, between 22 and 27 November 2018. 
The course is conducted for civilian Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) Missions by the Swedish Contingencies Agency (MSB). This Medical Security training was developed by the MSB specifically for CSDP Mission safety and security personnel.
 
A total of 14 students, coming from EUAM Ukraine, EUAM Iraq, EUCAP Somalia, EUPOL COPPS, EUCAP Niger, Civilian Planning and Conduct Capability (CPCC) and the host Mission, participated in the course. 
This Medical Security Course is a comprehensive theoretical, practical and simulation based five-day long course. Its main goal is to give the course participants the knowledge, skills and ability required to prevent and respond in cases of medical emergencies in a safe, secure, timely and effective manner.
 
The MSB Senior Programme Officer and the point of contact in CPCC Security and Duty of Care Office were present during the training.
The EUMM has hosted various training courses in the past and welcomes such courses. This was the third Medical Security Course hosted by the EUMM this year.

EU supports development of online course on women's access to justice

On 28-29 March, a group of experts from the United Kingdom, Georgia and the Republic of Moldova came together to kick off the development of a new e-learning course on women’s access to justice. The course will promote gender-sensitive justice in the Council of Europe’s Member States, which also include five of the EU’s Eastern Partners: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.

Course participants such as lawyers, judges, prosecutors and members of civil society will be able to improve their knowledge and skills in relation to relevant United Nations, Council of Europe and European Union standards on women’s human rights and gender equality, relevant case law and established good practices.

The new online course will be developed within the EU and Council of Europe-supported project “Strengthening access to justice for women victims of violence in the Eastern Partnership countries”, which is part of the Partnership for Good Governance, and the Council of Europe’s HELP (Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals) programme.

Basic Summer Course launched in Sachkhere Mountain Training Centre

Basic Mountain Training Summer Course is ongoing in COL Besik Kutateladze Sachkhere Mountain Training School. 25 military servicemen from NATO 7member and partner countries are taking part in the course being conducted in the framework of NATO “Partnership for Peace Programme (PFP).

The military service members of the Armed Forces of Georgia, United States, Latvia, Poland, Armenia, Ukraine and Belarus will adopt the different mountain skills for three weeks. The military servicemen attending the course familiarized with the technique of ascending and descending rocks and  overcoming obstacle lines in Chiatura Municipality village Katskhi.

The course participants are being practiced in the rules of using mountain equipment, planning routes on maps, moving across the mountain terrain with the help of a compass and a map, providing the first medical aid for wounded, organizing their surviving and wounding procedures. The course also includes marching at the altitude of 2 400 m and spending nights in camps.

Towards the end of the course, the participants will pass different complex and physical tests in case of successful accomplishment of the basic summer course to be finished on July 7.

State-of-the-art satellite installer training programme to become a fixed course in the curriculum

LUXEMBOURG/DAKAR, 13 October 2016 – SES (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG), the world-leading satellite operator, along with its local partner Ecole Supérieure Multinationale des Télécommunications (ESMT) located in Dakar, today announced the launch of the SES ELEVATE satellite installer training course with ESMT. ESMT has been a leading ICT University in Sub Saharan Africa for more than thirty years.

This SES ELEVATE satellite installer training course is one of the key areas of collaboration enumerated in the Memorandum of Understanding that has been signed this week between SES and ESMT, to bring advanced satellite installer training skills in Senegal.

As part of the launch, SES has sponsored a classroom that will be rebranded, furnished with the necessary equipment, and become the dedicated training venue. SES also created an internet Hub for ESMT and will provide the institution with one year of free internet connectivity via its ASTRA 2G satellite. The unlimited internet connectivity across the institution will ensure students are able to undertake part of their training online and have access to the internet for additional information.

“SES has been working with ESMT through the SES ELEVATE programme for a number of years and to have it provided as a fixed course in the curriculum is a step in the right direction, as more installers will be equipped to support satellite and digital television migration in the country. In addition to providing capacity and managed end-to-end services, SES with its Elevate installer training programme, help ensure customers receive the best service for the installation of their satellite reception equipment. To date, we have trained over 8,000 installers across Africa since the launch of the programme in 2012,” said Andy Anderson, Head of Marketing at SES in Africa.

Mr Tahirou Ouattara, Director General of ESMT, added, “We’re excited to introduce the programme as a fixed course in the curriculum and uplift the youth through education. This will empower our youth to become entrepreneurs and start their own businesses, and in the process create employment opportunities for others. Our institution provides certifications and graduate programs within the telecommunications industry and this partnership with SES will enable us to expand our current programme offerings.”

As part of the launch week, SES will be training VSAT and direct-to-home (DTH) installers. At the end of each course, installers will be provided with an ELEVATE certificate, which provides the opportunity to generate more income, as well as further develop skills, learn cutting edge techniques, and improve the overall quality of installations.
