The European Union will extend its sanctions, announced in response to Russian aggression against Ukraine, to those who militarily support Russia’s war, such as Belarus or Iran. This was announced by the Head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, at a press conference today following the signing of the Third EU-NATO Joint Declaration on Cooperation.

“The European Union will keep doing everything in its power to support the brave people of Ukraine. We will keep the pressure on the Kremlin for as long as it takes with the biting sanctions regime,” said von der Leyen. “We will be coming forward with new sanctions on Belarus answering Belarus’ role in this Russian war in Ukraine.”

She also confirmed that the EU will continue its “substantial humanitarian economic and Security Assistance to Ukraine as long as it is necessary”.

On January 9, 2023, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran for Economic Diplomacy Mahdi Safari in the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan.

A wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres was discussed at the meeting.

The parties noted the importance of meetings at the highest and high levels in expanding bilateral friendly relations.

During the negotiations, the importance of the activities of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian commission for economic cooperation was emphasized. The agenda also included issues of developing cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, building up transport and transit potential.

The diplomats paid attention to the upcoming joint events and meetings scheduled for this year.

At the end of the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to the further course of strengthening the Turkmen-Iranian partnership, based on the age-old principles of friendship, good neighborliness and mutual respect.

The final document of the International Conference "Dialogue is a Guarantee of Peace", held in Ashgabat on December 11, 2022 in the frames of the Ashgabat International Week, was published in the six official languages of the UN (A/77/651) as an official document of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly under paragraph 14 Agenda "Culture of Peace".

The document reflects the fundamental goals and principles of the UN Charter, which include obligations to resolve disputes by peaceful means and methods. In this context, the document emphasizes that inclusive dialogue in its various manifestations plays an important role in strengthening relations and cooperation among UN member states.

The Outcome Document also supports the initiative of the UN Secretary General on the formation of a New Agenda for Building Peace, which is consonant with the initiative of Turkmenistan to promote the philosophy of "Dialogue as a guarantee of peace".

In addition, the published document notes the need to implement global strategies and programs of the UN, in particular, the joint implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The Final Document emphasizes that the policy of neutrality plays an important role in the development of a peaceful dialogue, trusting, friendly and mutually beneficial relations between the countries of the world and contributes to the strengthening of international peace and security at the regional and global levels. At the same time, the importance of preventive diplomacy is emphasized, in particular, the effective activities of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia in Ashgabat in order to support the efforts of the world community to peacefully resolve conflicts in the interests of maintaining peace, as well as the need to develop and strengthen preventive diplomacy tools.

The Global Initiative “Dialogue is a Guarantee of Peace” promoted by Turkmenistan is aimed at consolidating the efforts of the international community in strengthening the traditions of peaceful and trusting coexistence of the peoples of the world, restoring values and worldviews, defining a culture of peace and trust as an integral factor in international relations.

The conference “Dialogue is a Guarantee of Peace”, which laid the foundation for the launch in 2023 of the Global Campaign for Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace, has become a clear confirmation that Turkmenistan, being an active member of the world community, is not limited only to putting forward significant initiatives aimed at developing wide international cooperation that meets the fundamental interests of all countries and peoples, but also takes consistent steps towards their practical implementation.

9 января 2023 года в здании внешнеполитического ведомства Туркменистана состоялась встреча Министра иностранных дел Туркменистана Рашида Мередова с Заместителем министра иностранных дел Ирана по экономической дипломатии Махди Сафари.

На встрече обсуждался широкий спектр вопросов двустороннего взаимодействия в политико-дипломатической, торгово-экономической и культурно-гуманитарной сферах.

Стороны отметили важность встреч на высшем и высоком уровнях в расширении двусторонних дружественных отношений.

В ходе переговоров была подчёркнута значимость деятельности межправительственной туркмено-иранской комиссии по экономическому сотрудничеству. На повестку дня были также вынесены вопросы развития сотрудничества в топливно-энергетическом секторе, наращивания транспортно-транзитного потенциала.

Дипломаты уделили внимание предстоящим совместным мероприятиям и встречам, намеченным к проведению в этом году.

В завершение встречи стороны подтвердили обоюдную приверженность дальнейшему курсу упрочения туркмено-иранского партнерства, опирающегося на исконные принципы дружбы, добрососедства и взаимного уважения.

Итоговый документ Международной конференции «Диалог - гарантия мира», состоявшейся в Ашхабаде 11 декабря 2022 года в рамках Ашхабадской международной недели, опубликован на шести официальных языках ООН (A/77/651) в качестве официального документа 77-й сессии Генеральной Ассамблеи ООН под пунктом 14 повестки дня «Культура мира».

В документе отражены основополагающие цели и принципы Устава ООН, включающие в себя обязательства по урегулированию споров мирными средствами и методами. В этом контексте документ подчеркивает, что инклюзивный диалог в его различных проявлениях играет важную роль в укреплении отношений и сотрудничества между государствами-членами ООН.

В Итоговом документе также поддерживается инициатива Генерального Секретаря ООН о формировании Новой повестки дня для построения мира, которая созвучна с инициативой Туркменистана о продвижении философии «Диалога, как гарантии мира».

В Итоговом документе особо отмечено, что политика нейтралитета играет важную роль в развитии мирного диалога, доверительных, дружественных и взаимовыгодных отношений между странами мира и содействует укреплению международного мира и безопасности на региональном и глобальном уровнях. При этом подчеркивается важность превентивной дипломатии, в частности эффективная деятельность Регионального центра ООН по превентивной дипломатии для Центральной Азии в Ашхабаде в целях поддержки усилий мирового сообщества по мирному урегулированию конфликтов в интересах сохранения мира, а также необходимость развития и укрепления инструментов превентивной дипломатии.

Продвигаемая Туркменистаном Глобальная инициатива «Диалог – гарантия мира» нацелена на консолидацию усилий международного сообщества в деле укрепления традиций мирного и доверительного сосуществования народов мира, восстановления ценностных установок и мировоззренческих взглядов, определение культуры мира и доверия в качестве неотъемлемого фактора международных отношений.

Проведение конференции «Диалог – гарантия мира», заложившей основу для запуска в 2023 году Глобальной кампании во имя Диалога, как гарантии мира, стало наглядным подтверждением того, что Туркменистан, будучи активным членом мирового сообщества, не ограничивается только выдвижением значимых инициатив, направленных на развитие широкого международного сотрудничества, отвечающего коренным интересам всех стран и народов, но и предпринимает последовательные шаги по их практической реализации.
