Following the election legislation and by the CEC Chairperson’s initiative results of 201 election precincts are recounted in total by November 1st. The Central Election Commission delivers detailed statistics on the recounts: relevant district election commissions recounted election results of obligatory 5-5 polling stations and the data of 2-2 election precincts that fell under the recommendation issued by the CEC. As of now, 11% of 1830 election precincts are recounted. Through the country, in the mayoral contest, the number of votes for the “United National Movement” decreased by 21, and 28 votes were added to the mentioned political party. The number of votes for “Georgian Dream” was decreased by 10 votes and 23 votes were added, 2 votes were added to the election subject “Tamaz Mechiauti for United Georgia”.

Recounts neither affected the DECs’ preliminary results of the second round of elections nor election precincts’.

The Vice Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs, David Zalkaliani participated in the first "Global Week of Media and Information Literacy" launched by the Communications Commission, based on the UN Resolution of 25 March 2021.
In his speech, the first Georgian diplomat stressed that Georgia is a co-author and main sponsor of the resolution, and that such a resolution was adopted for the first time by the UN General Assembly.
"Being one of the initiators of the resolution, Georgia highlights the importance of combating disinformation and strengthening media literacy, as well as the priority of protecting the media and the freedom of expression," Zalkaliani said.
According to him, the spread of disinformation and misinformation is one of the main challenges facing the world.
"In case of Georgia, the disinformation activities are aimed to disrupt the democratic development of the country, to undermine trust in stateinstitutions and to disrupt Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations "- said the Minister, emphasizing the importance of strengthening media literacy in this regard.

The officers of MIA Border Police Coast Guard Department detained Vessel HONG FA SHANG HAI, a cargo ship sailing under the flag of China in the Georgian territorial waters, for violating the rules of navigation.

The captain of the ship, who is a Chinese citizen, was charged by the Operative-Investigation Main Division of the Border Police for violating the rules of navigation per Article 114, Part 1, Paragraph 1, Sub-paragraph “T” of the Code of Administrative Offences of Georgia.

The captain of the ship was fined 50,000 GEL. After paying the fine, the ship was allowed to sail freely.

Erika Olson, the newly appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, will travel to Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia to promote regional cooperation and discuss bilateral issues. While in Yerevan, DAS Olson will participate in a regional Chiefs of Mission meeting in November 2-4, joining U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Lynne M. Tracy, U.S. Ambassador to Georgia Kelly C. Degnan, and U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lee Litzenberger, as well as Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations Andrew Schofer and USAID Deputy Assistant Administrator Alexander Sokolowski.
 
We are excited to resume this long-standing tradition and gather with our colleagues from the region and from Washington, DC, to exchange ideas and information to better coordinate our policy in respect to all three countries in the region.
 
The participants will engage in internal discussions as well as informational meetings with representatives of the Armenian government and civil society. Most recently, U.S. Embassy Baku and U.S. Embassy Tbilisi hosted regional Chief of Mission meetings in 2019 and 2018, respectively.
