Command-Post Exercise “Gorda 2015”
Command-Post Exercise “Gorda 2015” was held on the reservists’ field training camp “Paldo”. The exercise was arranged under the aegis of the Norwegian Home Guard.
The training aimed to improve skills of planning and execution process of the staffs of National Guard of the Georgian Armed Forces. Within the CPX, the Norwegian officers changed experience to the Georgian counterparts.
Deputy Chief of General Staff of the GAF, Colonel Omar Begoidze, Head of J-3 Operative Planning Department, Brigadier General Giorgi Surmava, Head of National Guard, Brigadier General Levan Gamkrelidze, Commander of the Norwegian Home Guard, Major General Tor Rune Raabye and Head of Planning Department, Major General Odin Johannessen, as well as other officials attended the CPX “Gorda 2015”. At the end of the training, the Georgian and Norwegian military officials assessed the preparation level of the structural units of the National Guard positively.
Within the framework of the visit to Georgia, the Norwegian Home Guard delegation held meeting with the Georgian counterparts. The foreign guests got detail information about the history, structure, tasks and goals of the National Guard of the Georgian Armed Forces. The sides discussed bilateral cooperation plans as well.
On the sideline of the visit, Head of National Guard, Brigadier General Levan Gamkrelidze awarded the 8th Regiment Commander of the Norwegian Home Guard, Colonel Tor Mjelstad with the medal “General Kvinitadze”. The Norwegian officer received the reward for his contribution in strengthening bilateral military cooperation between Georgia and Norway.
