• NATIONAL LEADER OF THE TURKMEN PEOPLE, CHAIRMAN OF THE HALK MASLAKHATY OF TURKMENISTAN MET WITH A MEMBER OF THE FAMILY OF SHEIKHS OF THE STATE OF QATAR

  On February 20, 2023, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met at the Maslahat köşgi Palace in the capital with a member of the family of the Sheikhs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Faisal bin Nasser bin Hamad Al-Thani, who arrived in our country on a visit.

  Expressing gratitude for the opportunity of a personal meeting and hospitality on the Turkmen land, the guest conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to the Hero-Arkadag.

  Thanking for the kind words, Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed the best wishes to the Emir and the people of the State of Qatar, noting that our country is always ready for a comprehensive mutually beneficial partnership with the states of the Middle East, including Qatar.

  During the conversation, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty, on his own behalf and on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, congratulated the guest on holding the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 at a high organizational level, noting that this sports festival has become a significant event for the entire Islamic world .

  Expressing sincere gratitude for the congratulations, Sheikh Faisal bin Nasser bin Hamad Al-Thani stressed that the visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Doha during the world championship and his attendance at one of the matches were perceived as a sign of high respect for the State of Qatar.

  In continuation of the meeting, it was stated that the Turkmen-Qatari cooperation is developing in the fields of energy, transport and communications, industry, agriculture, and high technologies. Among the most promising areas of cooperation was the fuel and energy complex.

  Sheikh Faisal bin Nasser bin Hamad Al-Thani invited Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to visit the State of Qatar at any time convenient for him. The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude for the invitation. The dates of the visit will be agreed through diplomatic channels.

  At the end of the meeting, which was held in a constructive manner, confidence was expressed in the further successful comprehensive development of the Turkmen-Qatari cooperation, which meets the interests of the well-being of both countries.

• The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia held a briefing dedicated to the new city of Arkadag

  On 18 January 2023, the Embassy held a briefing for the representatives of Georgian media on the new, modern administrative center of the Akhal Velayat – the city of Arkadag.   

  The briefing was attended by journalists of the Georgian First Channel, “TV-24”, “The Georgian Business Week”, news agencies “News Day Georgia”, “Inter press news”, online media “Geoecohub”, newspapers “Resonance”, “Multinational Georgia”, “Free Georgia”, “Komsomolskaya Pravda”.

  In his speech, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan Mr. D.Muratov noted that under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, long-term large-scale programs aimed at strengthening the state foundations, increasing the economic power of the country, improving the living standards of the population, promoting further prosperity of Turkmenistan are successfully implemented. The birth of the city in the picturesque foothills of the Kopetdag is another evidence of the country's steady progress to new heights of development, the successful realization of the creative potential of the people.

  The journalists were informed in detail about the stages of the construction, the buildings and facilities being erected in the city, about the park areas, as well as about the lines of modern communication systems that will ensure the smooth operation of the city’s smart technology.

  It was also stressed that Turkmenistan, having embarked on the path of progressive transformation, also aims to realize the concept of "smart" cities. The new administrative center of the Akhal Velayat will become a role model, both in terms of new urban culture and in terms of ecology, as well as another visible reflection of the progress of the homeland and a source of pride of the Turkmen people.

• MEETING OF THE CHAIRMAN OF THE HALK MASLAKHATY OF THE MILLI GENGESH OF TURKMENISTAN WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF TURKIYE

  On November 11, 2022, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, met with the President of the Republic of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States.

  Warmly greeting each other, the Hero-Arkadag and the leader of Turkiye exchanged congratulations on the occasion of the awarding of the “Supreme Order of the Turkic World”, which became recognition of their special contribution to the development of the centuries-old traditions of friendship between the Turkic-speaking peoples in a new historical era.

  Conveying warm words of greeting from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh emphasized the importance of the previous Summit held in the Turkish city of Istanbul in 2021, at which it was decided to join the Organization of Turkic States as an observer.

  As noted, this historic event was a big important step, because the participation of our country in the Organization of Turkic States in this capacity is of a political and diplomatic nature and is aimed at further strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties with the fraternal Turkic-speaking peoples.

  Touching upon the topic of bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkiye, the interlocutors noted with satisfaction that today they are actively developing on the basis of the traditions of friendship and brotherhood.

  In this regard, the achieved high level of mutually beneficial Turkmen-Turkish cooperation, built on the principles of respect, trust and mutual support, as well as the availability of all opportunities for its further expansion and strengthening, was emphasized.

  During the meeting, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan focused on the importance of further development of parliamentary relations between the two countries.

  Confirming readiness to support initiatives aimed at further promotion of inter-parliamentary relations, their more meaningful enrichment, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished President Recep Tayyip Erdogan good health and success in responsible state activities, and further progress and prosperity to the fraternal Turkish people.

  Chairman of the upper chamber of the Turkmen parliament Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discussed the organization of a meeting of the heads of parliaments of the Caspian region with the head of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin, according to the website of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

  The head of the Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, who is on a working visit to Moscow, accepted the invitation of the Chairman of the State Duma to participate in a meeting at which the parties will consider key issues of interregional cooperation, and noted the need to specify the formats of work between the Caspian countries.

  It is expected that the meeting of the heads of parliaments of the Caspian region will be held in Baku in 2023.

  Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in turn, invited Vyacheslav Volodin to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Turkmen-Russian University in Ashgabat in 2023.

  "We would be happy to lay the foundation of a new university together with you next year. Here we need your help in studying legal issues, as well as what faculties, directions, specialties are needed," the chairman of the upper chamber of the Turkmen parliament said.
