Chairman of the Upper House of the Parliament of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has arrived in the Russian capital. The friendly visit will last three days, according to Russian media.
At the airport, he was met by the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's "Moscow program" will be rich – he will visit a photo exhibition dedicated to Turkmen-Russian cooperation, make a report to the Federation Council, and also hold a round table with the participation of Russian senators.
THE NEW ADMINISTRATIVE CENTER OF THE AHAL REGION RECEIVED THE STATUS OF A CITY AND WAS NAMED "ARKADAG"
On December 21, 2022, at an extended meeting of the government of Turkmenistan, the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan G.Mammedova announced the adopted Resolution to classify the new, modern administrative center of the Ahal region as a city with the rights of a district and give it the name "Arkadag".
According to the document, the administrative center of the Ahal region will be moved to the city of Arkadag. At the same time, the area in
2 thousand 370 hectares of the Goktepe district of the Ahal region passes into the administrative territory of the city of Arkadag.
This decision was made taking into account the wishes of the residents of the Ahal region and citizens of the country, the petitions of public associations and the submission of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, in accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan “On the procedure for resolving issues of the administrative-territorial structure of Turkmenistan”.
The architectural appearance of the new, modern administrative center of the Ahal region, which is being built on the initiative of the Chairman of the Milli Gengesh of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the territory of the Gokdepe district of the Ahal region, reflects the rapid socio-economic development of Turkmenistan, whereas the organization of housing provision mirrors our national heritage, spiritual values, centuries-old rich historical and cultural traditions of our people.

Chairman of the upper chamber of the Turkmen parliament Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov discussed the organization of a meeting of the heads of parliaments of the Caspian region with the head of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin, according to the website of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
The head of the Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, who is on a working visit to Moscow, accepted the invitation of the Chairman of the State Duma to participate in a meeting at which the parties will consider key issues of interregional cooperation, and noted the need to specify the formats of work between the Caspian countries.
It is expected that the meeting of the heads of parliaments of the Caspian region will be held in Baku in 2023.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in turn, invited Vyacheslav Volodin to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Turkmen-Russian University in Ashgabat in 2023.
"We would be happy to lay the foundation of a new university together with you next year. Here we need your help in studying legal issues, as well as what faculties, directions, specialties are needed," the chairman of the upper chamber of the Turkmen parliament said. Chairman of the upper house of the Turkmen Parliament Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov identified the main aspects of joint Turkmen-Russian interparliamentary cooperation during a meeting with Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matvienko, TDH reports.
The head of the Halk Maslahaty of Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan called priority areas of cooperation such aspects as strengthening the internal political stability of the two countries, creating a firm legislative barrier to manifestations of extremism and radicalism, attempts to discredit state foundations, resisting attempts to introduce false values and meanings into public consciousness.
In this context, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the importance of carrying out explanatory work among boys and girls in order to form patriotism and pride in belonging to the country, adding the possibility of using the interparliamentary mechanism of youth interaction.

The Inter-Parliamentary Forum of Central Asian countries and the Russian Federation is being held in Ashgabat under the chairmanship of the head of the Halk Maslahaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The event was preceded by a flower-laying ceremony at the Monument to the Constitution of Turkmenistan, after which the participants proceeded to the Congress Center located in the southern part of the Turkmen capital.
As the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko noted on the form, today's forum will lay the foundation for holding regular meetings in such a format.
Matvienko called the main strength of the inter-parliamentary dialogue its ability to create opportunities for interaction and dialogue between representatives of the participating countries. Thanks to this, "we can discuss the most pressing topics and offer solutions that will be really in demand by citizens," said the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.
