Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili has met with the representatives of the German Eastern Business Association

On 4 October 2022, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, held a meeting with the representatives of the German Eastern Business Association, which included representatives of 18 large German companies, including those operating in the fields of logistics, information technology, pharmaceuticals and agriculture.
The Deputy Minister welcomed the deepening of trade and economic relations between the two countries and expressed his readiness for cooperation in terms of attracting investments. Attention was focused on the efforts made by the Georgian government in the direction of European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili informed the representatives of the delegation about the favorable investment environment and business opportunities in Georgia. The sides highlighted free trade agreements between Georgia and the European Union, China and the countries of the region.
It was noted that despite the challenges facing the region, this year Georgia has an unprecedentedly high double-digit economic growth, which is the result of the country's reasonable and correct policy.
The sides emphasized Georgia's logistics, transport, agriculture and tourism potential and foreign investors’ growing interest in this regard.

    On 21 October 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili held a meeting with the chairmen of the foreign relations committees of the parliaments of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, Marko Mihkelson, Rihards Kols and Laima Andrikienė. 
    The Minister welcomed the joint visit of the chairmen of the foreign relations committees of the parliaments of the Baltic countries, which is given additional importance in the light of today's challenges.
    The sides focused special attention on the need to further activate a political dialogue and maintain close communication.
    The Minister emphasized the irreversibility of Georgia’s European integration reforms. Special Emphasis was placed on the progress in the implementation of EU recommendations and future plans.
    In the context of Euro-Atlantic integration, discussions focused on the NATO summit scheduled for next year in Vilnius. Ilia Darchiashvili emphasized Georgia’s progress in terms of NATO integration. Special note was taken of Georgia's expectations regarding the summit and the importance of the Baltic countries' support.
    The sides discussed the current security situation in the region. Special emphasis was placed on the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia, the importance of the Geneva International Discussions and the peace policy of the Georgian government.

  • Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Georgia

    On 19 September 2022, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Georgia, Zhou Qian.
    The sides discussed a wide range of issues on the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Special attention was paid to successful trade and economic cooperation between Georgia and the People's Republic of China. It was noted that China has become one of the main trade partners for Georgia in recent years.
    Discussions focused on the importance of exchanging high-level visits between the two countries. The sides reviewed  the possibility of taking appropriate steps in this direction and agreed on active cooperation.
    The sides reaffirmed their unwavering and consistent support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of each other's countries.

  • Ilia Darchiashvili has met with the co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions

    The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili held a meeting with the co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions from the UN and OSCE - Cihan Sultanoğlu and Viorel Moșanu. 
    The sides discussed security environment in the Russian-occupied regions of Georgia and in the vicinity of the occupation line, as well as the illegal actions of the occupation forces. The meeting focused on the importance of the Geneva International Discussions and the need to use the format effectively to achieve tangible progress in the main issues on the agenda, such as Russia's fulfilment of international obligations under the ceasefire agreement of August 12, 2008, as well as the safe and dignified return of internally displaced persons and refugees.
    Darchiashvili drew attention to the security environment in the Russian-occupied regions of Georgia and in the vicinity of the occupation line, as well as the illegal actions of the occupation forces, which “further complicates” the security, humanitarian and human rights situation on the ground.
    The officials underlined the need to keep the issue of the occupation of Georgian regions by Russia and the fulfilment of international obligations at a high level of the international community’s agenda.
    The meeting also discussed the peace policy of the Georgian Government and the efforts made in the direction of the peaceful settlement of the Russian-Georgian conflict, both in the dimensions of deoccupation, and reconciliation and engagement.

    The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, thanked the Member States of the United Nations Security Council for their joint statement on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of the Russia-Georgia war.
    “Thankful to the UNSC current (USA, Albania, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Norway and France), as well as incoming members (Japan and Malta)  for their joint statement to mark the 14 years  since the Russia-Georgia war. Through such statwemnrs , international community manifests its support to Georgia and calls on Russia to implement the EU-mediated 2008 Ceasefire Agreement” – the Minister tweeted.
    At its behind-the-closed-doors meeting held to mark the 14th anniversary of the 2008 Russia-Georgia war, the UN Security Council discussed the situation in Georgia’s regions occupied by Russia and the issues relating to the Russia-Georgia war. Following the meeting, the representatives of the UN Member States made a joint statements.
