Rashid Meredov and Sergey Lavrov held a bilateral meeting

A bilateral meeting of the ministers of Turkmenistan and Russia was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Rashid Meredov and Sergey Lavrov held talks before the meeting of the heads of the foreign policy departments of the Caspian states.
As Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova previously pointed out, the Council of Foreign Ministers in Ashgabat plans to review cooperation in the Caspian Sea and discuss modalities for further cooperation in preparation for the upcoming meeting of the presidents of the Caspian "five".
The main topics that the heads of state of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Russia will consider are security in the Caspian region, the comprehensive development of economic relations, including transport, trade, energy, cooperation in the financial sector, etc. Attention will also be paid to the environmental aspect of cooperation in the Caspian.

    The General Executive Director of JETRO confirmed his desire to increase mutually beneficial cooperation with Turkmenistan, declaring his readiness to take an active part in projects implemented in our country in various fields of activity.

  • ON THE MEETING OF THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TURKMENISTAN WITH THE HEAD OF THE JAPAN BANK FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

    On December 21, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the head of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Hayashi Nobumitsu in Tokyo.

    During the meeting, the parties noted the progressive dynamics of the development of Turkmen-Japanese relations across the entire spectrum of cooperation. An active and open dialogue between the leadership of the two countries was emphasized, which contributes to the further strengthening of interstate ties.

    Particular emphasis is placed on trade and economic relations and the participation of the Japanese companies in the implementation of large-scale projects in Turkmenistan, such as an ammonia and urea plant in the city of Mary, a sulfuric acid production plant in the city of Turkmenabat, a urea

    plant in the city of Karabogaz, a gas chemical complex in Kiyanly, a plant for the production of gasoline from natural gas in Ovadandepe.

    A constructive exchange of views was held on priority joint projects in the gas chemical, transport and agricultural fields, scheduled for implementation in Turkmenistan.

     

  • СOOPERATION WITH THE ORGANIZATION OF TURKIC STATES WAS DISCUSSED AT THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TURKMENISTAN

    On December 11, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the events of the Ashgabat International Week dedicated to the International Day of Neutrality and the 27th anniversary of the Neutrality of Turkmenistan.

    At the beginning of the meeting, R. Meredov congratulated K.Omuraliev on his appointment as Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States and wished him great success in this responsible position.

    The Secretary General noted with satisfaction the content-rich meeting with the President of Turkmenistan, which took place the day before.

    During the negotiations, issues of further deepening cooperation in various fields between Turkmenistan and the Organization of Turkic States were discussed.

    It was emphasized that Turkmenistan is interested in its partnership with a number of international structures affiliated with this Organization, in particular with TURKPA, the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.

    The parties also exchanged views on the results of the Summit of the Organization of Turkic States held in November this year.

  • THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TURKMENISTAN MET WITH THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE STATE OF QATAR

    On September 7, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdel Rahman Al-Thani.

    Diplomats noted the relevance of organizing high-level visits for further promotion of interstate relations.

    The parties also noted the special importance of continuing the positive experience of cooperation within the framework of international organizations, primarily with the United Nations.

    Taking into account the current regional and global situation, the mutual actions of the two countries on a wide range of issues in the political-diplomatic and trade-economic spheres were also considered. In this regard, the relevance of holding the next meeting of the Turkmen-Qatari intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation was emphasized.

  • PARTICIPATION OF THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF TURKMENISTAN IN THE FIRST MEETING OF THE MINISTERS OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF THE GULF COOPERATION COUNCIL - CENTRAL ASIA STRATEGIC DIALOGUE

    On September 7, 2022, in the city of Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov took part in the First Ministerial Meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council - Central Asia Strategic Dialogue.

    This platform was created in order to expand the political dialogue between countries and develop interregional cooperation in trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

    The participants of the meeting discussed topical aspects of the international agenda, issues of regional security and further steps to establish future effective cooperation and partnership in the areas of trade, economy, investment, culture and science.

    In his speech, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan noted that today's meeting is considered by Turkmenistan as the first important step towards creating a full-scale format of interaction between the states of Central Asia and the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Gulf.

    He stressed that, according to the Turkmen side, we can talk about the beginning of the process of systematization, streamlining and giving a long-term character and stability to the entire range of relations between our countries, justified historically and demanded by modern realities and needs.

    Within the framework of the Forum, the parties proposed to establish practical cooperation in matters of energy, transport corridors and logistics, as well as in the field of ensuring food and water security, holding cultural, humanitarian and scientific events.

    As a result of the meeting, the parties adopted a Joint Statement, as well as a Joint Action Plan for 2023-2027 (Joint Cooperation Roadmap), aimed at establishing practical cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, education, healthcare, culture and sports.

    The visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues, within the framework of which the Turkmen delegation is scheduled to have a number of bilateral meetings.
