Today, on June 6, a telephone conversation took place between the Co-Chairs of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation - Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk.

During a telephone conversation, the parties discussed issues related to the forthcoming official visit of the President of Turkmenistan S. Berdimuhamedov to the Russian Federation.

In addition, issues of further strengthening bilateral ties in the political, diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres were discussed.

    The Turkmen leader also expressed confidence that the documents planned for signing today during the meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia would contribute to the expansion and deepening of cooperation between the countries of the region.

    Within the scope of his visit, the Prime Minister of Georgia held a high-level bilateral meeting with Serdar Berdimuhamedow, President of Turkmenistan.

  • Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia Meets Serdar Berdimuhamedow, President of Turkmenistan

    Deepening of the relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan, joint projects and transit potential of both countries were among the key topics discussed by and between Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia and Meets Serdar Berdimuhamedow, President of Turkmenistan in Ashgabat today.

    The Head of Government of Georgia noted that Georgia noted that close political and economic relations with Turkmenistan are cherished by Georgia. Discussion was focused on the transport projects and their further advancement. It was noted that implementation of strategic projects increases the effectiveness and security of cargo shipments between Asia and Europe through the Caspian and Black Seas, resulting in the extension of trade and economic relations, advancement of regional links and connections. Georgia is investing a lot in the construction of new roads and railway, and increase of capacities at marine ports. Therefore, use of a corridor trespassing Georgia towards the Black Sea will be favorable for Turkmenistan. Discussion was also related to the strategic partnership in the energy sector and readiness was expressed towards deepening the existing cooperation further.

    The Official Visit of Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia started in Turkmenistan today.

    A Greet and Welcome Ceremony was held for the Prime Minister of Georgia at Ashkhabad International Airport. The Head of Government of Georgia was greeted by Muhammetgeldi Serdarov, Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and Avtandil Napetvaridze, Charge d’Affaires of Georgia to Turkmenistan.
    Within the scope of his visit, the Prime Minister of Georgia will hold a high-level bilateral meeting with Serdar Berdimuhamedow, President of Turkmenistan.

  • The historic Amu Darya Agreement and other documents at the Turkmen-Uzbek negotiations

    The signing ceremony of the documents was held at the Kuksaroy residence following the results of the Turkmen-Uzbek negotiations at the highest level.

    Serdar Berdimuhamedov Shavkat Mirziyoyev and signed a Joint statement, in which the main agreements are fixed and tasks for building up multifaceted cooperation between the two countries are defined.

    Also, in the presence of the heads of state, 19 documents were signed at the level of ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

    Including four agreements – on the development of transport and transit cooperation, on cooperation in the field of tourism, on holding a joint competition for initiative research projects. In this row is the Agreement on the Management, Protection and Rational Use of Water Resources of the Amu Darya River, which was called "historic" during the negotiations.

    The parties also signed three joint programs: trade and economic cooperation and development of industrial cooperation for 2022-2025, scientific and technical cooperation for 2022-2024 and between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries for 2023-2024.

    An action plan was adopted for the practical implementation of the provisions of the intergovernmental Agreement on the establishment and regulation of the activities of the Uzbek-Turkmen border trade zone – the Trade Center.

    A number of documents were also signed on cooperation in the chemical industry, customs issues, railway communications, forestry, museums, justice, youth policy, broadcasting and others.
