Prime Minister of Georgia Meets Chairman of Grand National Assembly of Turkey

Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met Mustafa Şentop, Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey today.

Dignitaries discussed the strategic partnership existing between the two countries, which is at the highest level today. It was noted that the 30TH Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations is marked this year and a number of events are planned to celebrate the jubilee.

Meeting was also related to economic cooperation. It was noted that Turkey remains to be the Number One Trade Partner of Georgia. It was highlighted that existing regional projects are clear evidence of an effective strategic cooperation between Georgia and Turkey.

The Prime Minister of Georgia and Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey discussed topics of regional cooperation, along with the Peaceful Neighborhood Policy of the Prime Minister of Georgia that will serve as a significant platform of dialogue and will facilitate the normalization of regional relations.

Readiness was expressed at the meeting towards a further augmentation of the strategic partnership and it was also noted that the positive trend of high-level visits is a welcoming development.


The Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkey once again confirmed the solid support of Turkey towards the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.

    Today, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with the Permanent Representatives of various countries to the UN.

    In the meeting at the Government Administration, the dynamic of cooperation between the countries was reviewed. The importance of cementing cooperation based on common interests was underlined.
    The Prime Minister pointed out that the development of global partnership is one of the Georgian Government’s key priorities.
    The conversation touched on Georgia’s progress toward implementing effective reforms. Commitment to sharing successful and internationally recognized Georgian reforms across a variety of areas was also expressed.
    Georgia has been hosting the permanent representatives of various countries to the UN for years. The goal of Ambassadors’ visits is to share information about the country’s development, economic opportunities, and implemented reforms.
    The meeting was attended by Permanent Representative of the Republic of Benin to the UN Marc Hermanne Gninadoou Araba, Permanent Representative of the Comoros to the UN Issimail Chanfi, Permanent Representative of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the UN Georges Nzongola-Ntalaja, Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to the UN Jose Alfonso Blanco Conde, Permanent Representative of Saint Lucia to the UN Menissa Marcelle Rambally, Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, and Permanent Representative of Georgia to the UN Davit Bakradze.

    Within the scope of the visit, Irakli Garibashvili will hold high-level bilateral meetings at both NATO and the EU.
