Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia was held in Turkmenistan

Today, on the 6th of August 2021, the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia was held in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza”. The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Central Asia, the Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Natalia Gherman also took part in the session.

The Presidents of Central Asian states arrived to Turkmenistan to participate to this conference in the framework of which a number of parallel events of economic and cultural scope were held, including the Economic Forum of the Central Asian states, International Exhibition of the Products of Central Asian countries, Women’s Dialogue of the States of Central Asia, as well as the International Festival of the National Cuisines of the region’s countries.  

The Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia was held in the Congress Hall of the National Tourist Zone “Avaza”. The event was preceded by the bilateral meetings of the heads of states. Then, the joint photographing ceremony of the Presidents of five Central Asian states took place.   

In his opening speech, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude to his colleagues for accepting the invitation to visit Turkmenistan for participation to the Consultative Meeting aimed at further strengthening of regional cooperation, provision of conditions for more active and oriented steps in this regard, which is expected to become a strong mobilizing factor for effective and constructive participation of the Central Asian region to the continental and global affairs.     

The parties considered the key aspects of developing political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian collaboration between the countries of the region. A constructive exchange of views on the issues of regional stability was held. The Presidents discussed the pressing issues of regional cooperation, exchanged opinions on current topics of international development. They also agreed to accelerate the external policy cooperation, including through the regular five-sided meetings between the MFAs of the regions’ countries.    

During the session, the Presidents discussed the issues related to the implementation of resolutions adopted at the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia that was held in Tashkent on November 29, 2019. The parties noted the importance of the region from the geopolitical and geo-economic perspectives and underlined the high level of mutual understanding, trust and mutual respect between the countries that are united by century’s long historical, spiritual and cultural ties. It was emphasized that all of this is positively affecting not only the region, but the Eurasia in general.      

Special attention was paid to the establishment of favorable conditions for the partnership in the energy sphere, expansion of cooperation between the region’s countries in transport-communications field, in particular through the maintenance of effective functioning of available and by forming new transport corridors. In his speech, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, “based on the UN documents, we are forming in Central Asia favorable political-legal and economic conditions for safe, sustainable partnership, which is oriented at the fulfillment of internal regional demand for energy carriers, as well as directed at the entrance to the world markets via the international transit corridors”.        

The Presidents exchanged views on the development of trade ties, increase of export and import operations. The agreements were reached on the diversification of mutual trade turnover and industrial cooperation.     

One of the main constituents of the agenda of the meeting was the consolidation of efforts of the region’s countries on countering the pandemic.  The Presidents agreed to facilitate the organization and encourage joint research in the area of studying the nature of new type infections, as well as the application of new methods of treatment and prevention of communicable diseases.   

Upon the outcomes of the meeting, the Joint Statement of the Heads of States of Central Asia was adopted.

Then, an official ceremony of awarding the Honorable Sign of the Heads of States of Central Asia was held.  In accordance with the decision of the Presidents of the countries of Central Asia adopted at the current Consultative Meeting, the Honorable Sign was awarded to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon for outstanding achievements in the development of friendship, good-neighborliness, mutual understanding and cooperation between the states of Central Asia, as well as for strengthening peace and security in the region, promotion of joint interests and initiatives of the region’s countries within the international community.  With the applauses of the audience, the Honorable Sign was awarded by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Then the press conference of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Central Asia, the Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Natalia Gherman took place upon the outcomes of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia.

The same day, the Presidents visited the International Exhibition of the Products of Central Asian countries and the International Festival of the National Cuisines of the region’s countries.  

In the end of the day, the heads of states took part in the festive concert of the art and culture workers of the countries of Central Asia, as well as in the official dinner.

    Speakers underlined the special importance of the new volume, which is the continuation of the fundamental scientific work, over which the leader of the nation started to work in 2009.

    In the basis of this large scale, scientific research the best experience transferred from generation to generation, experience of treatment of both outstanding scientists-founders of medicine of the East and the Turkmen doctors-healers constantly referring to «natural drugstore».

    On the book’s pages, it is possible to find the detailed description of curative properties of herbs, including endemics, possibilities of their use in scientific and national medicine. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has devoted to their deep study many years of his life.

    Participants of the presentation underlined that the unique encyclopaedia is a real treasure of knowledge of curative properties of plants growing in the Turkmen land and used throughout centuries for efficient treatment of various illnesses.

    With the academic accuracy, the head of the state acquaints readers with the cultivated and wild plants. Under the uniform scheme their photos, description, biological features, distribution area, natural stocks, medicinal raw materials, chemical compound, ways of preparation and use is provided.

    Representing the original encyclopaedia of the Turkmen flora, the book «Medicinal plants of Turkmenistan» became for these years the invaluable guide on herbal medicine not only for domestic pharmacologists and physicians, but also for the foreign experts having possibility to familiarise with it thanks to its translation into many languages.

    The next volume of the scientific work of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, like the previous ones, was published in mass print run. A wonderful addition to the contents are colourful photos of picturesque corners of our country, the Russian-Latin-Turkmen dictionary of names of plants and calendar of gathering of medicinal raw materials.

    The presented short review on development and reached successes of domestic public health services during the prosperous epoch of the powerful state testifies to the large scale of grandiose transformations occurring in the system of health protection within the limits of the Government program «Saglyk» developed and realised under the wise leadership of the head of the nation.

    Participants of the celebration prepared the Message to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in which they expressed their deep gratitude for the huge attention given to health protection of Turkmen nationals and for the created conditions for their happy and peaceful life.

  • THE LEADER OF THE NATION TOOK PART IN THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE NATIONAL DAY OF TURKMENISTAN AT THE WORLD EXPO 2020

    On October 9, 2021, with the participation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the opening ceremony of the National Day of Turkmenistan was held at the World EXPO 2020, which is taking place in Dubai.

    UAE officials warmly welcomed President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the airport in Dubai.

    As part of the working visit, the President of Turkmenistan held a number of high-level bilateral meetings. In particular, at the Al Maktoum International Airport, the President of Turkmenistan met with Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy of the United Arab Emirates.

    Emphasizing the high level of Turkmen-Emirati relations, the sides noted the effectiveness of the two countries in energy, gas chemistry and other prospective areas of cooperation. It was particularly noted that the bilateral and multilateral partnership of Turkmenistan and the UAE in these fields is developing successfully.

    Then the motorcade of the President of Turkmenistan headed to the Expo 2020 pavilions. As is known, the current world exhibition in the Middle East region promotes the universal unification of different countries and peoples for the sake of global development.

    The opening ceremony of the National Day of Turkmenistan was held on the central square of the expo center, Al Wasl, accompanied by the anthems of two countries - Turkmenistan and the UAE. Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director General of Expo 2020 Dubai, also attended the ceremony.

    The President of Turkmenistan, together with high-ranking UAE officials, toured the Turkmen pavilion, where Turkmenistan's achievements in all key areas of the national economy were presented. The National Pavilion of Turkmenistan, located in the Mobility Zone, is one of the distinctive pavilions of Expo 2020 Dubai, operating under the slogan "Journey to Culture with Akhal-Teke Horses". The interior exhibit of the show is comprehensively devoted to the theme of the country's participation.

    While viewing the national pavilion, participants were shown a video demonstrating the achievements of Turkmenistan in the field of transport, construction, healthcare, sports and culture. The head of state extensively familiarized the participants with the advanced directions of development of the country and the high indicators achieved by Turkmenistan during the years of independence.

    The leader of the nation also visited the United Arab Emirates pavilion showcasing the UAE's advanced development trends.

    At the end of the tour, the head of state headed to the Reception Center of the World Expo 2020.

    Here, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks with Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.

    During the meeting, the sides emphasized the constructive nature of the traditional friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates, which are being steadily promoted to a new, higher level based on principles of mutual respect and support.

    The sides also discussed bilateral relations in various fields of mutually beneficial partnership, particularly in economy, investment and development in the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples.

    Furthermore, following the talks, a solid package of bilateral documents covering a wide range of issues of multifaceted partnership between Turkmenistan and the UAE was signed.

  • The Turkmen-Uzbek Economic Forum was held in the capital of Uzbekistan

    The Turkmen-Uzbek Economic Forum was held in Tashkent within the framework of the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Uzbekistan.

    The leaders and representatives of the key economic ministries and departments, as well as business of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan discussed the issues on investment to industry, power energy, agriculture and transport sector of two countries-neighbors.

    During the economic forum the bilateral meetings of the representatives of delegations of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were held, in the course of which the specific investment projects and areas of the bilateral cooperation in the economic sector were discussed.

    The signing ceremony of the bilateral documents also took place within the Turkmen-Uzbek Economic Forum.

  • THE MEETING OF THE HALK MASLAHATY OF THE MILLI GENGESH OF TURKMENISTAN WAS HELD IN ASHGABAT

    On September 25, 2021, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty (People’s Council) of the Milli Gengesh (National Council) of Turkmenistan on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the sacred Independence of Turkmenistan.

    The meeting was attended by elected members of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, members of the Mejlis, heads of government agencies, political parties and public organizations, khyakims of velayats, districts and cities, honorary elders and representatives of all sectors of the population.

    The agenda of the nationwide event focused on the achievements of Turkmenistan’s statehood over 30 years of independence. The discussion also focused on the priorities of further comprehensive development of Turkmenistan and implementation of the goals and tasks to ensure prosperous life of Turkmen people. Important decisions were made aimed at further prosperity of our independent state and improving the living standards of the people.

    In his speech, the President of Turkmenistan noted with satisfaction the tremendous achievements of the country during the years of sovereign development. The head of state noted that within historically short period of time Turkmen people proved to be a peace-loving, friendly nation able to build and create.

    Noting the importance of the landmark date, Turkmen leader emphasized that this anniversary date intended to further strengthen the unity and cohesion of our people will become another confident step forward on the chosen creative path in the modern history of the country.

    During his speech, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized formation of a solid foundation for strong economic development and outlined priority directions of the national policy.

    The President also spoke about the importance of the foreign policy of the state and the high prestige of Turkmenistan in the international arena. As the head of state stressed, our state will continue consistently implement a peace-loving foreign policy strategy aimed at the development of friendly, constructive relations with the world countries.

    During the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan signed decrees on awarding state awards to distinguished citizens on the occasion of the anniversary of Independence of Turkmenistan.

  • Heads of foreign affairs agencies of Turkmenistan and the FRG discussed the issues of bilateral collaboration

    Today, on September 14, a telephone conversation took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany Heiko Maas.

    Minister on behalf of the Government of Germany expressed deep gratitude to Turkmenistan for cooperation in the issues of ensuring the flights of aircrafts with the aim of evacuating citizens from Afghanistan. At the same time, it was emphasized that the immediate granting of permission by Turkmenistan to use its airspace has become a decisive factor in the effective evacuation of people.

    In the course of the talk, the heads of foreign affairs agencies exchanged views on the issues of bilateral collaboration in political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

    In particular, it was noted the close interaction of Turkmenistan and Germany in the process of “Green Central Asia”, as well as bilateral cooperation in the field of education between the governments of the two countries. 

    The parties also exchanged views on significant issues of international and regional agenda. Mutual readiness for continuation of active dialogue on Afghan issues had been expressed.

    The Ministers agreed to continue on a systematic basis regular consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and Germany with the participation of diplomatic missions.
