President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Welcoming each other, the heads of the neighboring countries expressed satisfaction with the opportunity to discuss the most important issues of the interstate cooperation in a personal conversation.

Expressing words of deep sympathy for the people of Uzbekistan in connection with the natural disaster that caused significant damage in a number of cities and settlements of the neighboring country, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized the willingness of Turkmenistan to ender all possible assistance in restoring infrastructure.

As noted, the relevant departments of our country are ready to immediately contact their Uzbek colleagues, establish operational channels of interaction and determine work schemes to mitigate the consequences of a natural disaster.

The further fight against coronavirus pandemic requires effective and decisive joint actions today. Noting that the spread of coronavirus negatively affected the global economy and international relations, the Turkmen leader emphasized the need to intensify efforts to counter the spread of this dangerous infection in order to minimize its harmful influence on bilateral trade and economic relations.

This is, in particular, about the implementation of coordinated sanitary-quarantine measures on the border between the two countries. The measures taken by joint efforts make it possible to ensure the high level of sanitary and epidemiological safety, to create conditions for medical testing of citizens crossing the border, and for the disinfection of vehicles and goods passing through the territory of two states.

Touching upon the humanitarian aspect of the interstate cooperation, which meets the fundamental interests of the two fraternal peoples, since ancient times tied with the bonds of unbreakable friendship and good neighborliness, the Turkmen leader expressed gratitude to the Uzbek authorities for their kind attitude and participation in the fate of the Turkmen citizens in Uzbekistan, in particular, students, for whom all necessary conditions for living and studying are created. The Turkmen side also takes every effort to create favorable conditions for the citizens of Uzbekistan in Turkmenistan.
Noting that such invaluable qualities inherent in our peoples as fraternal mutual assistance and willingness to help each other, today, during this difficult period, are demonstrated with special emphasis, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov assured that in the future Uzbekistan could count on all possible support and assistance from Turkmenistan.

Reaffirming the mutual commitment to offer new impact to the development of interstate dialogue, the parties expressed confidence in the inviolability of traditionally friendly relations and the successful continuation of the established constructive partnership.

The heads of two friendly states congratulated each other on the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and wished WWII veterans good health, happiness and longevity.

Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated each other and the peoples of the two countries on the holy month of Ramadan.
