Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan participated to the “С5+1” ministerial meeting

On February 3, 2020, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov attended the ministerial meeting in “С5+1” format held in Tashkent.

The Secretary of State of the United States of America and the Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in the session.

A wide range of issues in political, economic and cultural-scientific spheres was considered during the meeting. In particular, the parties exchanged views on collaboration in the area of border management, trade, energy and transport.

Special attention was paid to the Afghan problematic. In this context, the Turkmen delegation informed about the progress of the construction projects of the TAPI pipeline, power line and fiber-optic communication systems on “Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan” route, the railways from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan.

On the outcomes of the talks, the participants adopted the Joint Statement of the ministerial meeting in “C5+1” format.

In the framework of the participation of the Turkmen delegation in Uzbekistan, the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the Secretary of State of the United States of America Michael Pompeo was held, during which a number of current issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as the regional topics of mutual interest were considered.

  • The sixth Caspian summit will take place in the capital of Turkmenistan

    Today, in the Ashgabat will take place the Caspian summit. The heads of the Caspian states will take part in the highest level meeting.

    The heads of the Caspian states will discuss important issues of interaction between the coastal countries in the Caspian Sea, as well as exchange views on topical issues of the international and regional agenda of mutual interest.

    A number of bilateral meetings of the heads of the Caspian states are also planned to be held on the sidelines of the sixth Caspian summit.

    With the decision of the European Council, the EU leaders have confirmed that Georgia’s future lies within the European Union and that Georgia will definitely become a member of the organization.

    According to the decision of the European Council, Georgia, once a range of recommendations are fulfilled will be automatically granted a candidate status, while Ukraine and Moldova have received a candidate status on condition of complying with the recommendations given to them.
    By awarding Georgia an EU membership perspective, the EU has recognized Georgia as a European country and has acknowledged the progress made in Georgia-EU relations in the past few years. Indeed, this result would have been hardly imaginable without the efforts and reforms implemented in the country over the recent years.  
    The decision of the European Council takes on a particular importance in view of the challenges that threaten the system of western value and European security, of which Georgia is an integral part.
    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the European Council’s decision and the EU leaders’ support in this process.
    We believe that this is a historic moment for Georgia and from now on, the door to Europe is definitely open to our country.
    Being committed to common values, Georgia, together with the EU, will continue to pursue an ambitious reform agenda leading to Georgia’s final integration with the EU.
    Georgia will work actively to meet the recommendations to achieve the deserved candidate status as soon as possible and to regain its rightful place in the European family.

     

  • TURKMENISTAN SENT HUMANITARIAN AID TO AFGHANISTAN

    A humanitarian cargo sent from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan in connection with the devastating earthquake that occurred recently in the Afghan provinces of Khost and Paktika arrived in Kabul today.

    This action was carried out in accordance with the Order of the President of Turkmenistan, who immediately responded to the natural disaster that befell the fraternal people.

    Turkmenistan sent 24,700 tons of cargo, including food, medicines, hygiene products, household essentials.

    Sending humanitarian aid to the Afghan people is one of the components in the implementation of systemic comprehensive support to Afghanistan by the Turkmen state for many years.

  • TURKMENISTAN WILL PROVIDE HUMANITARIAN ASSISTANCE TO AFGHANISTAN AFFECTED BY THE EARTHQUAKE

    On June 23, 2022, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with the Charge d'Affaires of Afghanistan in Turkmenistan Mohammad Fazel Saber.

    Addressing the Afghan diplomat, the head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry stressed that Turkmenistan had received the news of the devastating earthquake in the Afghan provinces of Khost and Paktika with deep sorrow and expressed sincere condolences and feelings of empathy to the people of this country.

    The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced the readiness of Turkmenistan to provide humanitarian assistance to the population of fraternal Afghanistan in the near future.
