Telephone conversation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia
A telephone conversation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.O.Meredov with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S.V.Lavrov was held on the 29th of August, during which the issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed.
The parties highly appraised the outcomes of the First Caspian Economic Forum which was held in Turkmenbashy city on August11-12 of the current year.
Also, the heads of external policy agencies of the two countries exchanged views on the preparation to the meeting of the Council of the Heads of States of the Commonwealth of Independent States to be held on October 11 in Ashgabat.
The Appeal of the January Conference in honor of neutrality is recognized as the document of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly
As is known, this year Turkmenistan is celebrating the 25th anniversary of gaining the status of permanent neutrality of the country. Since the beginning of the year, both in the country and abroad, conferences, forums, and exhibitions have been organized at various levels.
So, on January 14 of this year, the International Conference “Turkmenistan and International Organizations: Cooperation for Peace and Development” was successfully held in Ashgabat, in which President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov participated.
The event was also attended by numerous representatives of international organizations, journalists and diplomats, who found an opportunity to discuss the importance of the policy of neutrality in terms of promoting peace, stability and security in the world.
The conference ended with an Appeal by its participants to the Secretary-General of the United Nations. This Appeal was recognized as a document of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly and published in the official languages of the UN.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan participated to the “С5+1” ministerial meeting
On February 3, 2020, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov attended the ministerial meeting in “С5+1” format held in Tashkent.
The Secretary of State of the United States of America and the Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in the session.
A wide range of issues in political, economic and cultural-scientific spheres was considered during the meeting. In particular, the parties exchanged views on collaboration in the area of border management, trade, energy and transport.
Special attention was paid to the Afghan problematic. In this context, the Turkmen delegation informed about the progress of the construction projects of the TAPI pipeline, power line and fiber-optic communication systems on “Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan” route, the railways from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan.
On the outcomes of the talks, the participants adopted the Joint Statement of the ministerial meeting in “C5+1” format.
In the framework of the participation of the Turkmen delegation in Uzbekistan, the meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the Secretary of State of the United States of America Michael Pompeo was held, during which a number of current issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as the regional topics of mutual interest were considered.
President of Turkmenistan signed a number of documents aimed at the perfection of the energy sphere of the country
On January 31, 2020, the successive session of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan took place. In the framework of the session, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a number of vital documents aimed at the uncovering the energy strength of the country.
The Head of State signed the Decree according to which the State Concern «Türkmengaz» will settle an agreement with the Malaysian company «Serba Dinamik Sdn.Bhd» on procurement of the necessary equipment for the construction of the Turkmen section of the “Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India” (TAPI) pipeline, including the set of equipment for the gas-measuring unit.
According to another Decree, the State Power Industry Corporation «Türkmenenergo» of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan will settle contracts with the foreign companies for the procurement of the necessary equipment, materials and techniques for the construction of high-voltage power lines and stations “Akhal-Balkan” and “Balkan-Dashoguz.” In accordance with the document the Turkish company “Çalik Enerji Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.” will implement the necessary projecting, supply, assembling and commissioning of the telemechanics systems, communications and programme supply of the electric power transmission lines.
These documents are aimed at further uncovering of the energy potential of Turkmenistan, as well as offering the given resources to the international markets.
Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Georgia presented the invitation letter to the President of Georgia
On January 10, 2020, the meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Georgia Mr. D. Muratov with the President of Georgia Her Excellency Mrs. S. Zourabichvili was held at the “Orbeliani” Presidential Palace.
In the beginning of the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed the invitation letter of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed to the President of Georgia and inviting her to participate to the International Conference «Policy of Neutrality and its importance in ensuring international peace, security and sustainable development», dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Neutrality, which will be held on December 11-12, 2020 in Ashgabat.
During the conversation, the parties noted the vital role of the policy of permanent Neutrality implemented under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan and aimed at ensuring peace, international security and sustainable development.
The bilateral relations in political, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres were also discussed.
Briefing dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan was held in Tbilisi
On January 17, 2020, Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia held the briefing dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan.
The briefing was attended by the representatives of «TV-24», publishing group «Georgian Business Consulting Group», news agency «News Day Georgia», newspapers of «Resonance», «Multinational Georgia», «Free Georgia» and other representatives of Georgian media.
Ambassador of Turkmenistan in Georgia Mr. Dovlet Muratov noted in his speech that legal status of neutrality is the highest expression of primordial peace-loving traditions of Turkmen nation and undoubtedly, is a phenomenon in the system of international law. Adoption of Special Resolution on Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan with unanimous support of 185 member countries of the UN on December 12, 1995, has become an important event in the world politics. Repeat adoption of this Resolution on June 3, 2015, as well as adoption of the Resolution by the UN General Assembly on declaration of December 12 as International Neutrality Day eloquently testifies to the importance of neutrality in modern conditions. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov considers neutrality as a mechanism for combining geopolitical interests, an important factor in ensuring regional stability and establishing a civilized dialogue on constructive bases.
The participants of briefing were informed that in Turkmenistan 2020 was declared as a year of «Turkmenistan - Home of Neutrality».
During the briefing, Georgian media representatives noted the great importance of the international conference «Turkmenistan and International Organizations: Cooperation for Peace and Development», successfully held on January 14, 2020 in Ashgabat, with the participation of the President of Turkmenistan, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.
Representatives of the Georgian media expressed their gratitude to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Georgia for organizing and conducting the briefing and congratulated Turkmen people on the jubilee date. At the end of the event, guests were offered treats including Turkmen national dishes.
