The official ceremony of meeting President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, who arrived in Turkmenistan on the official visit, took place in Ashgabat.

In the morning, the motor cortege of the President of Afghanistan, accompanied by the motorcycle escort of honour headed to the Square of Independence. The President of Turkmenistan cordially greeted the President of Afghanistan and the leaders of the two countries headed to the special podium.

The commander of the Guard of Honour reported to the President and the State anthems of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan were performed. The leaders of the two countries walked past the Guard of Honour. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov presented the members of the official delegation of Turkmenistan to the President of Afghanistan. The distinguished guest met with the leaders of the diplomatic corps accredited in our country. In turn, the head of the neighbouring state introduced the members of the government delegation of Afghanistan to the President of Turkmenistan.

Upon completion of the ceremony, the Guard of Honour marched past the Independence Square.

The leaders of the two states headed to the Ruhyet Palace. After the official photographing ceremony, the Presidents of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan had the one-on-one top-level talks.

    Recep Tayyip Erdogan personally thanked the rescue teams involved in the liquidation and rescue measures of the earthquake aftermath.
    Firefighters and rescuers of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia are carrying out liquidation and rescue measures for the consequences of the earthquake until now in Hatay Province, in the city of Antakya, in coordination with the Turkish side.
    The Georgian rescue team was deployed in the Republic of Turkey by the decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia.
  • MEETING OF NIKOLOZ SAMKHARADZE WITH TOIVO KLAAR ON REGIONAL SECURITY MATTERS

    Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, met with Toivo Klaar, Designated European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia.
    The 57th session of the Geneva International Discussions, which was originally set for February of this year, was postponed for a number of reasons, which the parties discussed.

    A specific focus was placed on Georgia's role as a mediator in the South Caucasus area and the significance of the government's peace initiative as part of the discussion of regional security challenges and current processes in the region.

    The challenging circumstances in the Georgian regions that the Russian Federation has occupied and their illegal activities were disclosed to the special envoy of the European Union by Nikoloz Samkharadze.

    The Chair of the Committee highlighted the crucial tasks carried out by the EU Monitoring Mission.

    The sides concurred that they will maintain close coordination on all future topics pertaining to bilateral cooperation.

  • THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL TURKMEN-IRANIAN COMMISSION ON CONSULAR, BORDER AND CUSTOMS ISSUES WAS HELD IN ASHGABAT

    On February 6, 2023, the regular 15th meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Consular, Border and Customs Issues was held in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. Heads and representatives of relevant ministries and law enforcement agencies of the two countries took part in its work.

    The delegation of Turkmenistan at the meeting was headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister Vepa Hajiyev, the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Consular and Parliamentary Affairs, as well as for Iranian expatriates Alireza Bikdeli.

    During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of the agreements reached at the 14th meeting of the intergovernmental commission, which was held in Tehran in January 2019. The parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects of bilateral relations and stressed the need for strict implementation of all agreements reached.

    In particular, issues of improving the legal aspect of enhancing the mechanism of interaction in consular matters and in the field of information exchange between law enforcement agencies of the two countries, as well as expanding partnerships to establish effective management at border and customs checkpoints were considered.

    Based on the results of the 15th meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Consular, Border and Customs Issues, the final protocol was signed.
