David Zalkaliani has held the working lunch with members of the British Parliament
Georgian First Deputy Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani held a working lunch with members of the British Parliament. The all-party parliamentary group on Georgia, headed by Georgia’s great supporter and friend Jonathan Djanogly, plays an important role in the process of presenting Georgia’s interests at the British Parliament. Discussions focused on the existing close and friendly relations between Georgia and the UK, on the issues of common interest and strategic co-operation.
The members of the British parliament reaffirmed their support for Georgia’s territorial integrity, policy of non-recognition and the European aspirations and underlined that the international community positively assessed the elections held in Georgia.
David Zalkaliani thanked the guests for visiting Georgia and Jonathan Djanogly personally for the particular amiability towards Georgia, and members of the all-party parliamentary group on Georgia – for Georgia’s active support.
David Zalkaliani informed the guests on the reforms carried out in Georgia, on the investment and business potential, as well as on the heavy humanitarian situation in the country’s occupied territories; thanked the British side for participations in the EU monitoring mission; and underlined the importance of involvement of the international community.
The two sides underlined that next year the parliamentary meetings will be held on a regular basis along the Wardrop Strategic Dialogue. In the frames of the visit, members of the British parliament will meet the Georgian President, Prime Minister and Speaker of the Parliament.
