Armenia-Georgia cross-border cooperation – focus of conference in Tbilisi

The central and regional authorities of Armenia and Georgia, non-governmental organisations, expert, media and business circles of both countries gathered for a conference in the Georgian capital Tbilisi today to discuss the promotion of cross-border territorial cooperation and economic potential of the Kvemo Kartli region in Georgia and Tavush region in Armenia. The event is organised by the EU-funded Cross-Border Economic Development (CED) project implemented in the framework of the Eastern Partnership Territorial Cooperation Programme (EaPTC).

The Project “Cross-Border Economic Development” is aimed at improving the living conditions of the bordering communities in the Kvemo Kartli and Tavush regions and strengthening their cross-border potential, primarily in the field of agriculture. Also, the project is about to publish “Guidelines for starting business in Armenia and Georgia” in order to provide assistance for potential business partners in the neighbouring regions in such areasas registration, taxation and licenses, among others.

The EaPTC Programme aims to promote and strengthen cross-border cooperation between regional and local state authorities, communities and civil society organisations in the development of joint solutions to common social and economic development challenges in the participating border regions.   • Tbilisi and Bucharest become twin cities

    Tbilisi has the 22nd twin city as Georgia and Romania Monday signed a memorandum on the establishment of twin-city relations. Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze signed the document as part of a visit to Bucharest.

    "Georgia would have the opportunity to cooperate with Romania in various areas, like sports, culture, urban planning, and transport,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze said.

    “Bucharest and Tbilisi have a lot in common. I hope that the deepening of relations will help us exchange our views and experiences and further cooperate,” Bucharest Mayor Nicușor Dan noted.

    According to the Tbilisi City Hall, a bust of Shota Rustaveli will unveil in King Mihai I Park in Bucharest.

    Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia participated ibn a High-Level International Donors Conference for Ukraine within the scope of his visit to the Republic of Poland along with numerous other leaders of participating nations.

    The Head of Government of Georgia arrived at the national stadium of Warsaw, which was a designated venue of the high-level conference. He was greeted by Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister of Poland and Magdalena Andersson, Prime Minister of Sweden. The High-Level International Donors Conference is co-hosted by the Prime Ministers of Poland and Sweden, in partnership with the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission. Participants of the conference reviewed the consequences of the war waged in Ukraine and discussed the solutions to the humanitarian and economic crisis.

    Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister of Poland addressed the audience along with Magdalena Andersson, Prime Minister of Sweden; Charles Michel, President of the European Council and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. Participants of the conference also listened to the video address of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine.

    Prime Minsiter of Sweden, Spain, Ukraine, Lithunia, Latvia, Albania, Croatia, Iceland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Norway were among the participants of the high-level conference.

    The Head of Government of Georgia addressed the participating leaders of states at a Pledging Session of the conference.

    International Financial Institutions (IFIs), World Health Organization (WHO) and UN system institutions were engaged in the session along with various leaders of the world.

    Georgian attendees of the High-Level International Donors Conference included Ilia Darchiashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and H.E. Zurab Beridze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Poland.
