Call on OSCE to combat violence and discrimination
The fourth sitting of the OSCE PA General Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions was dedicated to consideration of the draft resolutions. The Delegates have introduced five draft resolutions for consideration.
The draft resolution introduced by the member of the US Delegation, Mr. Benjamin Cardincalled on OSCE to combat violence and discrimination and underlined necessity and importance of development of common plan by the member states and support to the initiatives.
The member of the US Delegation, Mr. Christopher Smith introduced the draft resolution on elimination of sexual exploitation and trade of children by the persons committing the sexual offense in past. According to him, the statistics of sexual offenses against children is increasing and the member states need to develop clear and intact response policy.
The Committee heard the report by the member of the Czech Delegation, Ms. Ivana Dobesova about migration as the complex security challenge and discussed the draft resolution introduced by the member of French Delegation, Mr. Michel Voisin concerning the rights of the refugees.
The Canadian Delegate, Ms. Hedy Fry introduced the draft resolution providing the analysis of the state of migrants and refugees in terms of gender problems. Considerations were followed with debates, allowing the Delegates to express their positions for or against each paragraph of the drafts. In line with the Rules of Procedure, the draft resolutions were put for voting.
The Delegates introduced the amendments to the paragraphs the part of which was shared by the Committee, resulted in adoption of all five draft resolutions submitted at the Committee. Today, the Committee elected the responsible persons with secret ballot with the term of one year.
The Committee will be Chaired by the member of the Spanish Delegation, Mr. Ignacio Sanches and the member of the Czech Delegation, Ms. Ivana Dobesova was elected as the Deputy-Chair. The Committee elected the member of the Delegation of Cyprus, Mr. Adrian Kiriakos as the Rapporteur. The documents adopted by the Committee will be submitted to the plenary session.
