The event started by the State Anthem performed by the Military Brass Band. The musicians played the military marches of Georgian and U.S. composers. Military Ensemble Erisioni performed War Dance “Khorumi” accompanied by the arrangement of Captain Koba Mermanishvili.
The competition will be led in two phases and reveal three winners. The demo versions of the compositions to be presented by the contest participants will be sent to the Jury members on 30 April. Finally, the best five compositions will be selected. Military Brass Band will play all these 5 versions on the basis on which the jury will reveal the winner.
During 1918-21 as an independent republic, Georgia began taking care of developing military chamber musical traditions that were well developed in Western European countries. That time the first Military Brass Band was set up which, later on, transformed into the Soviet Military Orchestra and interfered with the development of Georgian chamber musical traditions. At the present moment Military Brass Band of the National Guard has to perform the military marches of other countries during official meetings.
